NL25: Help, I\'m a calling station...
How could I have played this one differently? This was the ninth hand of the session, and the first with Villain VPIP.
Poker Stars No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $0.10/$0.25 9 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $10.75 UTG+1: $27.30 MP1: $6 MP2: $14.40 Hero: $23.45 CO: $22.20 Button: $25.45 SB: $18.45 BB: $5.90 Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is MP3 with J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2 folds, <font color="#cc0000">MP1 raises to $0.5</font>, MP2 folds, Hero calls $0.5 <font color="aaaaaa">(pot was $0.85)</font>, 3 folds, BB calls $0.25 <font color="aaaaaa">(pot was $1.35)</font>. Flop: J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($1.6, 3 players) BB checks, <font color="#cc0000">MP1 bets $0.5</font>, <font color="#cc0000">Hero raises to $1.5</font>, BB folds, MP1 calls $1 <font color="aaaaaa">(pot was $3.6)</font>. Turn: 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] ($4.6, 2 players) <font color="#cc0000">MP1 bets $0.75</font>, Hero calls $0.75 <font color="aaaaaa">(pot was $5.35)</font>. River: 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($6.1, 2 players) <font color="#cc0000">MP1 bets $2</font>, Hero calls $2 <font color="aaaaaa">(pot was $8.1)</font>. Results: Final pot: $10.1 I'm OK with the flop but I didn't like what I was doing on every other street. Pre-flop I'd normally fold to a standard raise with JTo. Later I didn't like the continuing mini bets from Villain, or the board pairing, but I felt my hand would be good often enough to call it down as long as didn't come in with a big bet. I didn't want to swell the pot, but felt my hand was too good to fold, so is there a good case for calling all the way? |

Re: Help, I\'m a calling station...
I don't hate this line at all. The 6 on the turn is terrible as QQ+ just pulled back ahead. But for $0.75 and $2 you certaintly can't fold. The only question is whether to raise the turn.
Raising the turn: What better hands fold... Not many. I don't see QQ+ folding and his line is inconsistent with 99 or 88. What worse hands call. AJ, clubs, straight draws. I think it is close, but I think I can raise/fold the turn. Thoughts. SMS |

Re: Help, I\'m a calling station...
I'd probably raise the turn. I put him on a FD. He MIGHT have a 6, but at that point I wouldn't worry about it.
On the river, I like slowing down and just calling. Other than that you're fine. I wouldn't necassarily call with JTo that often though, but it's not the junkiest hand ever. |

Re: Help, I\'m a calling station...
It all depends on what range of hands he is minraising with. If this is TT+, we are toast.
Raise more on the flop. We are hoping he has an overpair and he will stack off. Once he calls the flop raise and he continues to donk bet, i would just call. No point in raising. |

Re: Help, I\'m a calling station...
Whoops didn't notice the stack size, push the turn. If he shows us aces or kings, oh well donks have to win sometimes or else they'd stop playing.
And I also agree that more should have been bet on the flop. |

Re: Help, I\'m a calling station...
Im raising here on the turn. If not then, the river.
Calling down if fine, but I dont assume villian always has an overpair here. |

Re: Help, I\'m a calling station...
Fold preflop.
Raise more on the flop. Make it about $2.5. Raise the turn to about 1/2 pot to make draws pay a little more to see the river. Call the river. Given villain's stack size, you probably need to get him all in on the turn if you didn't end up all in on the flop. |
