Second, you need to bet more on the turn. I would call a shove on turn too as this is a lot of two pair hands or draws pair plus draw and you have outs to a full house if he turned straight. Checking behind for pot control with top set seems kind of nitty. River I don't think you can fold, I can't really put him on a straight when he checks either. The shove confirms it but I pay it off. You could check behind there, 4 to a straight you don't beat much that calls other than two pair.

First hand is just standard all-round, it's a coin-flip on the flop

Second hand, you have to bet more on the turn. JT9 + flush draw, this is the mother of all wet boards. Bet the pot. 16 cards will put four to a straight on the board, then there is the flush too. There are about 24 scare-cards (that's over half the deck) to come, if any one hits your opponent will either c/f or stack you.

Honestly I ran pretty bad this month too, I'm -$ with AKs and AKo. Lost all 4 times I got it in pf with AK vs underpair and lost an AK to AT aipf and lost with AKs vs AKo aipf.

My net amount for four of a kind is negative for this month. Lost a hand with 8888 vs 9999. BBJ would require a loss with TTTT or better =/. The pot was a nice fist pump followed by a "WTF?!?" experience.
