FTP 10+1 MTT Final Table
Having problems with FTP hand converter so will try as best as I can to paint the picture.
400+ field I am at the final table with 52,000 in chips. Chip leader at 116K. Avg stack about 64K. Blinds 1500/3000 400 ante. UTG makes it 9000 to go and is rated as TAG by PO. I get dealt J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] at UTG+1. Call, raise, fold, push? |

Re: FTP 10+1 MTT Final Table
I push here. You can't raise a normal 3bet amount without commiting your whole stack. Folding is way too weak. Calling might entice someone behind you to come into the pot and/or raise it up.
I like pushing as a sort of iso-raise that might knock out a hand that may have called, like AQ/KQ, behind you. |

Re: FTP 10+1 MTT Final Table
You didn't mention the size of UTG's stack, but you are relatively short, and JJ is damn nice hand. I agree with illini entirely - too shallow to call, too good to fold, so you must RR AI.

Re: FTP 10+1 MTT Final Table
Yeah, push here is just fine. You're worried that he is UTG, but his range given his stack, your stack, your want after 3.5 hours of play (to win), you need to push. It's almost no-brainer and you should learn how to put it in your arsenal as a default (and so should I).
Unless your program lists this guy as "Pussy" as does my note taking system, push away. Barry |

Re: FTP 10+1 MTT Final Table
I do give it a quick thought, ummm about 2 sec. and push.
Folds back to UTG who takes his time and calls. He shows QQ. With a final board of 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I'm out in 9th place. UTG did make a comment that he almost folded...thanks for everyone's replies. I appreciate the help. V |

Re: FTP 10+1 MTT Final Table
I agree that most of the time jamming is the best play here. In fact, I'm 95% sure I'd jam in your place.
That said, there might be something to be said for raising to 24k or so, though. That looks more likely to be a monster, for one thing. Also, if after that raise you get action from another player behind you and UTG plays too, I think you can safely throw away your JJ, confident you're up against an overpair. You would have to call a rereraise by UTG, I think, because of pot odds and the likelihood you're against AK, but it could get you away from a monster from one of the other 7 players. This very well may be FPS, and it would only work against tight, ABC, predictable players (maybe a more reasonable play live?) but I wonder what people think? |
