Do I have to call here? The Thing is If this player is reraising all in there's nothing I'm really beating. Should I fold here and wait for a better spot? Or Should I be calling here everytime? |

Re: Pokerstars $100 Tournament AQ Call??
depends on MP3, if he is your average player, I would fold. However if you think you are average in the field, I would call.

Re: Pokerstars $100 Tournament AQ Call??
pre-flop - either push all in or only raise to 2.5x the bb.
you need to at least call. there is a fair chance that this is a re-steal or that he has a smaller ace or pair JJ or < (you're about 46% against an under pair). and even if it's AA KK or AK, you've still got a chance of sucking out. but you don't want anyone else in the hand with you so push to isolate. makes it more likely that others will fold. |

Re: Pokerstars $100 Tournament AQ Call??
If you give villain a tight range of 88+,AQs+,AQo+, this is about EV-neutral. You're getting 1:1.7 odds, and you're the same vs that range. I'd call, since assigning a tighter range is generally not correct, and you need to double up. Folding here leaves you without much, if any, resteal FE.
I don't it's best to push AI w 15 BBs here, but it's certainly not much worse than raising. If you raise though, you're probably calling unless psychotic things happen (like push followed by another push). |

Re: Pokerstars $100 Tournament AQ Call??
I think it's a call because the range isn't going to be any tighter than Soulman's and you'll also see AJs and KQs here as well. If I was ever going to raise/fold this hand to a single shove, then I'd open 2.5x (which is pretty standard for me anyway). Then if a tighty shove from ep/mp, I might find a fold (though I doubt it). Here you've raised almost 20% of your stack, and 25%+ of your stack will be gone if you fold and pay the blinds, so I don't think this is particularly close - you'll be left push/folding if you fold. Here, you might get it in bad, but the reward will be a double up.

Re: Pokerstars $100 Tournament AQ Call??
This doesn't really belong in HSMTT, both for the difficulty of the decision and the buyin amount.
The 3x opening raise is fine. equity win tie pots won pots tied Hand 0: 35.599% 26.46% 09.14% 277274172 95777358.00 { AQo } Hand 1: 64.401% 55.26% 09.14% 579101160 95777358.00 { 99+, AQs+, AQo+ } 4800+4800+2400+1440+19200= 32640 in the pot, 19200 to call. Getting 1.7-1, calling would be marginally bad unless he was loose enough to add more hands into his shoving range. If you think he could show up with 88 or AJ once or twice I think it's a call. Call. |
