given read it looks like villain has a weak overpair 'trying to find out where he's at' almost always, so i would let him know and shove. also, if u choose to make it 12k definitely call for 8k more if he shoves. i guess if he insta shoves u can fold cause it's less likely u have outs. yeah I definitely think I can fold off the extra 8k if he shoves. If I call the extra 8k I can be certain I'm pretty smoked by 77, KK, AA, A 3, QQ, or at best, JJ in that order.
I'm taking more into account that I will only have 12k left if I call and lose when certainly way behind. |

he shoved, I folded and he told me later he had A3s. I figured this was pretty low on his range considering he's been playing so tight, called my utg raise in EP.

I check-fold the flop, I mean most of the time, some of the time I do what you did against that kind of player.

If i raise i put him all in because in live, all in is the scariest and manliest of raises.

I like your line a lot, including the 12k not AI raise (which looks scarier but also saves you money if he pushes, as you said). If you're the villain and have medium pockets here (obv not 77), what can you think you're beating? He'd have to fold putting you on a big pair, no?

This reeks of Yeti theorem. (Although if the guy 4-bet shoved with A3, maybe he's too weak to know Yeti theorem.)
Anyway, lately I only 3-bet when I do have the trips due to Yeti theorem and similarly am only calling when I have AQ. Since calling sucks, hrm. I think your read on him might be off a little bit if he plays A3 OOP in a raised pot multiway. |

I'd just bet/fold, donkament players always have it. The people who raise this flop 'to see where they're at' are few and far between, as is evident.
