[ QUOTE ] Is there never any slowing down in this situation to be concerned about a set? Do we just always get stacked with AA if he hit a set on this board? [/ QUOTE ] no. sometimes we hit an overset on turn or river. [/ QUOTE ] LOL. FYP. |

[/ QUOTE ] lol. oh and 3bet flop big unless you get tricky alot w/ FD's and go for alot of turn c/r, OR unless you really suspect he is on a FD and will fire turn hard with it, then there is way more value in turn c/r |

Hero raises to $450 Villain raises to $1,585, and is all in Hero calls instantly? [/ QUOTE ] No. if he's any good, he has a set, or big flush/straight draw - which you are even money. |

call the flop raise and take it from there. [/ QUOTE ] This is the standard line. But its tricky b/c a lot of cards that fall on the turn you aren't happy to see. This is truly one of the most difficult situations in no-limit. Most good opponents aren't raising a king here. They are either raising air, two pair/set, or a big combo draw. It REALLY depends on teh opponent. If this guy has really been playing back at you with bluffs and thin raises, then this may be a spot to push back. Against tigher/more straightforward villains, the standard line (I think) is to call his raise and reevaluate the turn. if he bets again on a heart or possible straight card, you can throw your cards into the muck. If a blank fires off and he seems hesitant w/ a meak bet, then you may want to crai. The bottom line is its opponent dependent. |

Re: AA, am i 3betting flop?
Stacks are goofy for a 3bet. I like a call, c/r AI on most turns, if he checks behind c/r AI on most rivers.
Against a good, aggressive player you have to 3bet this a good chunk of the time. After all, he'd expect you to flat call with a lot of your one pair hands right? Once you 3-bet he has to put you on bluffs, big draws, and the occassional set, and will probably pay off. But against a typical player, a call to conceal your hand strength is perfect. Note that at no point am I considering folding this unless some really scary card falls. This is assuming that hes at least reasonably aggressive (as are you) and he can be raising here with a range of hands that aren't the nuts. |

call, lead non-[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] turns. c/f [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] turns. curse computer on K turns, and probably check/call. [/ QUOTE ] Maybe i'm crazy... but most of the tough opponents i play in the 5-10 game aren't raising a pair of kings on the flop. A king on the turn wouldn't necessarily scare me. I guess this situation is a bit different b/c villain has position on us - which means its probably less likely that he has a set. The trickier situation is when we raise AA in the cut-off, and BB calls. flop comes 10-8-2 w/ 2 hearts. We bet, and he cr's 3.5x more. what exactly is he doing this w/? the only thing we are truly ahead of is air. |
