ATMs are often owned by different companies than the banks they represent. The banks simply put their own names on the ATMS.

This is interesting. I have WF as one of my 3 banks. As far as 7/22/07 I could purchase directly into Pokerstars with my Wells Fargo debit card.

[/ QUOTE ]

I have no reason to doubt that this is so. But there is a simple explanation for it. Wells Fargo folks didn't happen to notice, yet, that you are using their account for Pokerstars. But the moment they realize you are doing so, you will find out about it.

Furthermore, as a related topic I would like to mention that you should never consider using PayPal for any online gambling transactions. I remember reading an article on the CNN web site, a couple of years ago (I wish I had saved the link), that said something disturbing about a new PayPal policy. It said that PayPal introduced a new policy to their user agreement. If they found out that you were using PayPal for any kind of gambling transaction, PayPal would simply fine you by withdrawing $500 directly from your PayPal account. In other words, PayPal puts themselves into the role of investigator, judge, jury and executioner. You do not have a chance to defend yourself. The money is just gone. Good luck getting it back.

PayPal is an evil and very stubborn company. You can never reason with them. Whatever they say or decide is final.

Wells Fargo happens to be one of the financial institutions that have zero tolerance for anything that they don't believe is 100% to their standards.

[/ QUOTE ]

I've got to laugh at Wells Fargo's questionable standards.
They are the folks who funded Pancho Villa's rebellion after all.

"...Villa somehow had to convert the numbered silver bars and get arms, which was not easy with authorities searching for the bullion and an embargo on U.S. arms into Mexico.

That is where Wells Fargo stepped in. The owners of the silver -- mining firms with mines in Mexico -- were willing to pay Villa to get the silver back, but they were not able to establish contact with him.

So Wells Fargo and its Mexican subsidiary, which handled the shipment, arranged a ``strictly confidential'' deal, in the words of one memo..."

There is no doubt that these corporations have questionable standards.

For example, did you know that Disney is substantially investing into the production of pornography?

I bank at Well Fargo and I tried to open an epass account this week and it didn't work. I called them and they said they banned epass recently and I couldn't deposit there. Time to find a new bank.

[/ QUOTE ]

Maybe/maybe not. While it is true that you can't fund your epass account using a WF debit card, you can fund it directly using your checking account. It takes longer, but it still works (or did for me as of last week).

Also, I've spoken with the WF Fraud Department, and the way to make these deposits - especially deposits using your debit card - is to call them before you initiate a deposit, so they can "reset" (their term) your account. Each account reset is supposed to be good for 72 hours.

The phone number for the WF Fraud Department is 1-888-293-7475. Although it seems counter-intuitive, I've found that being upfront with them and telling them I want to make a deposit to Full Tilt Poker (for example) gets the job done. For example, to make a deposit to FTP, I call them first and say, "I want to make a deposit to Full Tilt Poker and need you to reset my account permissions," mentioning FullTilt by name. They then confirm my account info and set the account permissions so that I can make deposits for 72 hours. The WF fraud agents I've spoken with have been professional - one even stayed on the line with me and walked me through a deposit that kept failing due to a bad expiration date.

Anyway, the above was my experience. I have a lot of gripes with WF as a bank, but I have to give props to their fraud department, which seems to do a good job.

My experience with WF matches I.Rowboat's. They knew what I was funding but didn't care as long as I said it was a legit charge.

so a side topic:
this might be very obvious. You can use a all access prepaid visa to load onto a epassporte account? If so, you can basically load onto epassporte instantly, and then use epassporte to cash out instead of waiting on a check.
