Poker Bob sais that this hand was heads up on the flop which definately changes things. In a multiway pot I would think he would bet into you with TT but heads up he may check-raise. I think a flush is possible if he considers you to be the type to never miss a value bet and will pay off the raise. Most players would just bet the river when the flush hit.
I agree with the others that you have defined your hand to Poker Bob very well and he can't possibly think you will fold too his check-raise. As always this would all depend on your history with each other. I would have checked the river. You can certainly consider folding here. I would have to be there to give you a definative answer. |

[ QUOTE ]
I don't really see what value you thought you had in the river bet. What's Bob paying you off with, 99? He's a better hand reader than that. [/ QUOTE ] I think we need to value bet this hand on the river b/c we are ahead of more hands than we are behind. Pbob may be able to lay down 99, 88 or some other weaker hand but I think you've still gotta force bob to make the right decision and not allow him to get off the hook easily. If he folds here, you might try a similar line later w/a big draw. On top of that there are metagame considerations against a thinking player like bob. Checking behind here might allow poker bob to get away from other hands on the river when you try to value bet them. Folding the river is the correct play here b/c 1 pair is just no good when pbob c/r's you w/out a total bluff. OTOH, I wouldn't want to make a habbit of folding to Pbob's c/r all the time b/c he might be inclined to try to bluff you every once in a while. I fold this hand but def keep it in the back of my mind for the next time he tries to c/r the river. |

i think betting is fine if you have the discipline to fold if he raises... something i dont think i do, so i kinda think checking behind is better for me in this spot

pbob knew you might find this fold and pulled off the rare river check raise bluff. then showed. vnh.
i still agree with other poster who feels that paying this bet off is a leak. i feel that i have the same leak. i dont see the failed bluff attempt here very often when I make this call -Im always shown the goods here it seems to me... A masterful bluff that only works against good thinking player trying to save a bet. "Anti-collusion". |
