Re: Poker in Foxwoods, Atlantic City
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Can only speak for Foxwoods: getting into a 1-2 NL game usually doesn't take too long. There are always lots of tables spread and people go busto a lot. [/ QUOTE ] Around two months ago, I got on the 1/2 NL board at 1 PM on Saturday afternoon. I was 125th on the list, and got a seat 5 hours later. [/ QUOTE ] Yes, Saturdays can get pretty crazy. |

Re: Poker in Foxwoods, Atlantic City
For O they have 4-8 half kill and 8-16. No 5-10 anymore.
All the 7-stud you could ever want. The wierd games like E and R don't go alone but are sometimes part of a large mixed game, ie 100-200 HOE |

Re: Poker in Foxwoods, Atlantic City
If you are going to Atlantic City, be advised that the worst run poker room I have ever been in is at Harrah's at the Marina. Nice dealers who were friendly, competent and keep the game moving. Good mix of people at the tables. But the set up and management is awful.
In a tournament a player picked up the muck to show his friend he mucked pocket sixes, when 2 sixes fell on the flop. All he got was a "You cant do that" from the Floor Supervisor. The dealers' boxes are never "filled" and rarely are there enough whites on the table to make change easily. Players show each other their cards while the hand is in play and get no penalty. To cash your chips in you have to go to the other side of the casino. Its a shame because its a nice comfortable room with nice people and good games. But the management seems out of it. |

Re: Poker in Foxwoods, Atlantic City
AC is getting good at making rooms for Poker. You can find a game you like to play there.

Re: Poker in Foxwoods, Atlantic City
There are nine card rooms in Atlantic City. The smaller rooms offer mostly Texas Hold 'Em with $1-2 and $2-5 no limit and $2-4 and $3-$6 limit. You will find bad beat jackpots at all the Harrah's properties and the Hilton.
The bigger rooms (such as Borgata and the Taj) have bigger games and every game. The Taj has a rotation Omaha hi/lo and Stud hi/lo. They used to have a $3-$6, but I think it's just $5-$10 right now. (I haven't played there in a while). The Trop used to have better games, but under the new ownership the room is falling apart. They replaced their $1-$5 stud with $3-$6 and have $5-$10 stud game. But the players there are unfriendly and manipulative. As someone posted earlier, Harrah's isn't great, but I do enjoy playing there when it comes to smaller rooms. There are floor people who genuinely care about their job at Harrah's, but unfortunately are outvoted when it comes to anything important and makes for poor morale. FYI,all the card rooms have $300 max buy-in in the $1-$2 No Limit games. Wow, I could go on all day about the poker rooms in AC. So, if there are any other questions, feel free to ask. |

Re: Poker in Foxwoods, Atlantic City
hey Yankxchick. Do you know if the location of the Borgata, Taj and the Trop is pretty close? Or are they real far away from each other?
Also, do you consider the games at the low limits soft? Say 1-2 no limit and 5-10 limit and stud games? Since all the tables usually have 10 players, how old would you say the average player is? I wouldn't really like it if i get there and there are young guys 25 and under who are probably real good and I would basically be playing a bunce of online guys who beat 200NL easily if you knokw what i mean. |

Re: Poker in Foxwoods, Atlantic City
Taj and Trop are on the boardwalk, but sort of on opposite ends. You can walk between them, but it will take a little while. Borgata is not walkable to any other casino. But you can get from any casino to any other casino for $2 on the Jitney. Or drive in <15 minutes. The age at the table is highly dependent on day and time. Limit games will probably get an older crowd than NL. Asking if the games are soft is kind of a dumb question if you've read just about any other thread on this forum. |

Re: Poker in Foxwoods, Atlantic City
well everyone says its easy but some people i think tend to overstate it? For instance there are a lot of players who say 50NL is so easy even though its the tightest level of all whehter in stars or tilt.
Just wanted to make sure that the games are really easy. The Jitney sounds good. It's a bus right? Just want to maake sure. By the way, since you said all poker games at the casino is easy, do you say the limit or no limit games are fishier assuming you understand the basics of each game. Thanks. |

Re: Poker in Foxwoods, Atlantic City
If you are playing the low limit games, be advised their extremly unbeatable. Just about every one is seeing a river no matter what your betting in the limit games. This is where people just sit down and say they played poker and drink for free.
The only thing about the Boardwalk side casinos is that you are going to get lots of shady characters. Then again, it is the casino business. Borgata is a younger crowd. Taj and Trop are pretty mixed. Late in the evening and overnight is a much younger crowd anywhere. |
