Re: \"Jesus\" advises Yang to stiff dealers?
I meant I will quit tipping for tournament cashes where money is withheld from the prize pool. I will continue to tip $1-3 per pot in cash games as dealers are forced to put up with my drunken shenanigans

Re: \"Jesus\" advises Yang to stiff dealers?
Additional tipping after tournament fees seems like it should be standard if you cash big. The house rakes pots in cash games, and we still tip, so if you've made a nice score in a tournament, unless the rake is huge, I would probably tip.

also, i would be willing to bet that less than 5% of poker dealers pay taxes on all of their tips. just like other jobs where people make cash tips. [/ QUOTE ] Tip compliance FTW. Well, at least for dealers in Vegas who work in a room (i.e. not the circuit) AFAIK. |

By the by, if anybody is interested, it looks like the average salary for RN's with three years of experience is 47K and for Nurse Practitioners is about $62,000. I don't know what the higher or lower bounds of nurse compensation are, but on the other hand, I don't know what the higher and lower bounds of compensation for dealers is either. --Zetack Edit, on review of a few more sources it looks like I'm probably low on Nurses salaries: The median national annual salary for an RN employed full-time in 2005 was $53,600 (U.S Dept. of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics). [/ QUOTE ] Going by the median mentioned at the end I'd say nurses are paid more than roughly... 85-90%+ of dealers in the US. Dealers that have the potential to make more usually work in high-volume rooms (Borgata, Commerce, Bellagio, Wynn, etc.), in well-run small rooms where there's a small tight crew doing alot of the dealing (not many I can think of - Rio grave crew?), or female dealers that are hot sexy bitches. But I note potential due to numerous factors - E.Os (early outs), vacation*, sick days*, liberal use of liberal sickness policies, etc. *Due note poker dealers only get paid the base salary from the casino when they take a vacation or use sick days. No tips there... $48/day instead. Unlike dealers from the pit who can put in forms to get their share of the tokes while on vacation (at least from what I observed when I worked at a Harrahs property) and not lose out on the gravy train. |

If a dealer makes $210 net in tips and only declares $200, he is not declaring all of his tips. |

The IRS agrees that they will not claim the dealer made more and the dealer agrees he will not claim he made less. |
