I think a little piece of me dies every time a 2p2er misunderstands Johnny Hughes's brilliance .

I am hoping that Johnny Hughes gives his own answer.

My GUESS is that poker is as clean as it's ever been right now. My further guess that what you have to do is sample poker games each year and find the % of fish. The higher the % of fish, the cleaner poker is.

poker is fun. i love it. but it is NOT CLEAN.

here is how...

1 - people talking about how to play a hand WHILE the hand is being played. aka the 'one person to a hand' rule that cannot be enforced so Lee Jones gave up and said it wasn't a rule. you should decide how to play by yourself. there is only one screenname in your seat. it is unfair to do this.

2 - pokertracker - yes i am serious. you could liken it to the stats given in other sports.... but these stats are in the oublic knowledge. e.g. how many points scored per game. not everyone has pokertracker. if you cannot remember/think it without being prompted by figures... then it is cheating.

3 - multiaccounting. usually in mtts. Actionjeff said this was still going on last month. scum.

4 - collusion - cash games mostly. obv cheating. happens loads.

5 - keyloggers/trackers/peepers - people doubt they exist.. but i am sure they have and do.

6 - players simply owning more than one account and not making it known to their opponents. obv this would be impossible to do... as you can't tell every opponent etc. but if you play someone as one name and then on another account the next day then it is dishonourable.

7 - drug habits - not performance enhancing.... just cokeheads etc. i shall not mention the, here as it may be removed but we all know several who do it.

Is poker the cleanest sport??

You've already admitted to being a scumbag cheat yourself Johnny, and what's worse a scumbag cheat for the house. Ergo how about you let those of us who aren't scumbag cheats ask and answer questions about Poker's virtue compared to other professions.

There was never a time when cheating was acceptable despite whatever internal spin doctoring you scumbags engaged in to sleep at night. There will never come a time when it's acceptable regardless of how many ZeeJustin's and Johnny Hughes tempt us to overhaul our own strict moral codes.
