Personal Money Manager

How would I go about hiring a personal Accountant / Money Manager? I am looking for someone to handle all of my finances, Taxes, Investments, Bills, etc.

Obviously this would need to be a person I can trust. Not exactly keen on picking someone out of the yellow pages. My fear is you really don’t know the person is not the right one for you until something goes wrong.

Anyone employ someone like this or have any experience with it??

I dont see why you cant look in the yellow pages to start and then search online to find out more about the person. If you dont feel comfortable doing that why not start out by asking family and friends who they use. While your family may not know enough to properly evaluate the skills and abilitites of their manager, they can give you a starting point.

Make sure whoever you hire charges a flat fee based on your assets and not anything else (i.e. no commissions from selling you insurance, no per-trade fees, etc.).

Really depends on how much money you want to be managed, and what you are looking for in terms of portfolio results. If you are located in the Bay Area, let me know. I am well-networked there in terms of the finance industry.

Kind of depends how much in assets you have.

You can try contacting big firms like UBS and they can set you up with one of their advisors.

Or, ask people you know for a referral.
