Default TT On The Bubble

This is my first tournament in a long, long time ... the FTP 9K guaranteed ... please be brutal so I know the proper way to approach this next time

46 people left, 45 pay ... I'm 3rd in chips

Sorry couldn't get converter to work ...

Blinds 300/600 A75

UTG+1: 11,679
Hero: 24,352
BB: 10,571

UTG+1 limps ... I raise to 2200 with ThTs in the SB ... BB folds, UTG+1 calls

Was this an obvious push? Or limp? Or is the raise fine?

*** FLOP *** [Kh 6h 4s]

My line?

A push seems like overkill. The limp UTG means he has a meh hand or a monster (QQ+). If you push, I think he only calls with hands you are behind (with the exception of maybe AK) and folds everything else. Your raise is fine.

If you bet, he is probably only calling/raising with hands you are behind (i.e. a set or pair of kings). I like leading this flop for ~3000-3500 and call/fold to a push depending on how villian has been playing. Before you bet, you must have a plan.

Raise more preflop. You're giving him 2 to 1 to call here. Make it more like 3000 preflop and you're getting into a better neighborhood. As played, I lead the flop for 3K and probably fold to a push. You'd be getting decent odds to call the push, but I doubt he makes that play on the bubble without a King.

I'd do the same as TFGoose except only raise to 2400, that's pretty standard in this spot. C-bet the flop 3000, if he pushes he has you beat for the reason TFGoose says.

I raise to 2500, but I think anything from 2400-3000 is probably fine. 2200 isn't terrible either, but maybe a bit low. Definitely bet this flop, as it's a good one for your hand. Assuming you raised to 2200, there's 5475 in the pot, assuming 9 at the table. 3000 sounds about right, although that's the low end, I'd probably bet 3700 or so, personally. I disagree that he only pushes with hands that beat you, though. He'd push with AhXh, maybe a hand like 77, hoping you have AQ or something.

On the bubble, a lot depends on the player. I'm assuming he's not a great player to be limping in on the bubble with his stack, but maybe he's trapping with a monster. Still, unless I have him pegged as a total weak tighty, I probably call a flop jam.

Raise is fine push is way overkill, you will only get called 90% of the time by a hand that is beating you (other 10% is donkey spew). And if you are trying to win the pot preflop a good raise and a push should accomplish the same thing (with less danger by raising).

Given that flop you need to C-Bet half the pot. He could have a king (as played kj kq), but more than likely his limp range could be A10, AJ, AQ, 99,88.

I think you need to c-bet and cross your fingers that he doesn't come over the top. If he does, however, you should still probably call. If you win you have a large chip stack going into the fun part of the tourney where a big chip stack matters. If you lose, you're still in it and just need to sit back for a couple of rounds, playing cautiously.

Preflop is good IMO, but you MUST c-bet or else it'll get taken from you by your opponent who will bet in your place.

Raise is ok, and I agree with illini that you must think about the flop play before you raise. With these stacks, I'm inclined to shove as if you bet 3500 or around that amount I'd find it hard to lay down to his push. If your opponent had a bigger stack, I think the cbet / fold to a push is about right.

the raise stinks too small. 3-3.5k. bet flop 1/2 pot. you must protect hand from ace q j

I don't agree that the raise is too small. It seems fine with these stack sizes and this hand. If you make a big raise, you are playing a go and go, and you usually get action postflop when you are way behind.

I also don't see anything wrong with completing. Your hand is not way ahead of the UTG limper's range.
