Default Brit wants $ based savings account

I currently keep all my bankroll online in Neteller/Poker Rooms and have enough now where I feel I should start keeping some offline to earn interest.
I still want this to be part off my roll and would like to keep it in dollars to avoid paying conversions charges when I move money between the savings and my online roll.
It is also good to keep it outside of the UK incase they ever decide to start taxing poker winnings here

My initial deposit will be in the region of $5k. I am probably planning to add money to this savings ($1k or so)every month or so and perhaps take from it to put back online once to twice per year if necessary. I will always keep at least 20 buy ins online but obviously may need to access this if I have a terrible downswing.

I am open to considering shares or over types of savings as well as a flat out savings account.

Any suggestions/advice?

E-trade has a savings account that pays 5.05% and they just recently opened up global trading which includes the ability to buy and sell foreign currency.

Do you know if Neteller will transfer to USD denominated banks?

I was planning to cash out directly from a poker site rather than Neteller.

If the USD keeps depreciating against the pound, won't it be more beneficial to keep your money in the UK? I.e. currency losses could easily be >>> conversion fees.

Definitely put it in £ account. Over the past few months I've been keeping as little of my bankroll online in $.

ING has great customer service, not to mention 5.35% 12 month CD if you choose to take the route. Their savings is only 4.5 but can be linked to checking with debit card which is also 4%.
