blackjack betting strategy
Just a theory but i've had a bit of success following this betting strategy, the number of hands is only about 100 and therefore nowhere near a definative result therefore i want mathmatical responces telling me if this actually works or if it's just an anomoly i'm experiancing. The strategy is:
1. Place a minimum bet 2. If you loose start again at 1 if you win leave your winnings on the table so you are betting double the amount 3. start again from 1 i would appreciate a maths based analisis to tell me if this is +ev or not |

Re: blackjack betting strategy
Sounds good to me. It somehow turns an -EV bet into +EV through manipulating bet sizes. I wouldn't let people know about this though or the casinos might start preventing you from betting in this way.

Re: blackjack betting strategy
It may give some sense to your betting and make you win a bit in the short run, but in essense it's just a variation of the parlay system and no betting system ever will be +EV.

[/ QUOTE ] there definatly is a betting system that is +EV, if you know the hi-lo system of counting cards you can take a running count, divide it by the decks left in the shoe, subtract 1, and this is the amount of units you should be betting. example: your base betting unit is the minimum at the table, lets say 5 dollars after counting for awhile the table is at a running count of +16 and there are 4 decks left in the shoe. at this point you take 16 and divide it by 4 to get 4, subtract 1 and you are at 3, meaning that by the rules of optimal betting you should bet 3 units or 15 dollars on this hand. knowing how to count and play textbook black jack swings the advantage from 4% to the house to 1% to the player which seem small but in essense is +EV for you. |

Re: blackjack betting strategy
Well, at least this isn't the martingale. However, no betting system can make negative numbers add up to a positive.

[/ QUOTE ] It seems like Martingale should actually work if you can play on casino credit. After all, if you lose more than you can afford to pay, you can always declare bankruptcy! |
