At last week's Open, Tiger was the only player to crack 180mph ball speed. Sergio was consistently in the mid to high 170's. The typical PGA Tour player will be around 160-165.

That surprises me. I was averaging about 175 when I was on a launch monitor i got one up to 180. I guess I am a kind of long hitter.

Launch monitor info, ball speed = 3/2 club head speed. Mis hits will make the ball speed slower. Also, there are other factors that will go into hitting it a long way, if your launch angle and spin rate are not good, it will cause distance loss.

Not always true. This number is called the "smash factor" A square consistent striker of the ball can push the 1.6 number while one making a glancing blow will be less than 1.5.

I guess I was swinging hard and the pros don't really do that on the course. My club head speed I think was around 113 with maybe a high of 115

Not necessarily, if you are putting a lot of spin on it, it may not crack 300 at 180 mph.

ya i have a ball speed of about 165-170 and consistently hit it 290-300 so just depends on launch angle and spin once the numbers get higher.
