the lowest games you can exepect to beat hte players and the rake is online.
if you believe you have edge, getting at least 3x as many hands in an hour (probably more as O8 might be the slowest game in the world) will chop up your weaker opponents faster. you have reduced rake and can multitable to fight hte boredom. also, not to mention you can post hands here while you're playing for almost immediate feedback. there's a lot of bad habits that beginners pickup by playing live and it helps to move up the learning curve quicker by playing more hands and having a bigger resource to dissect them. so yes, to answer OP, it's possible to beat live low limit but the time invested in it isn't worth the monetary winnings or the knowledge you'll be giving up by avoiding the online games. |

The rake is 10% up to $5.00.
Is online Omaha easier to beat? |

The games are somewhat tougher online, but the rake is lower, you can get bonuses, and no tipping the dealer.
For high limit games casinos could be easier to beat, but for low limits, online would be easier. |

i've logged in a decent number of live O8 hours in AC, Vegas, and CA. the play at live 4/8 and 5/10 is generally extremely loose and extremely profitable in my experience, so i would recommend anyone trying 2/4 live to take as many shots as possible.
obviously, game selection may vary slightly at these stakes, but i usually find nothing but good games. |

I play a lot more in person than online. You can make about the same amount of money 4- or 6- tabling at $1 stakes online as you would in a 2/4 or 3/6 live game -- if you really want to. I'd rather play 20/40 for 3 hours fresh and focused than grind out 12 hours at a 5/10 game. It is more interesting and more challenging, and I think I play better. I can live with the variance.
Is it fair to say that 50 cent stakes online are about the same as 3/6 live? I think it is. And factoring in rake, tipping, and cost of travel, the hourly rate should be about equal to favoring online play. Good games are readily but not universally available at these stakes. And both require good table selection. |
