Default Preflop hand selection: PokerStars $5.50

Pokerstars $5.50 $5K guaranteed. 3K starting stacks. I had a few hands I was considering playing but decided not to. I was wondering how people would rate playing these hands preflop. The table has been fairly loose with a lot of raises preflop, 35-40%. The first break is just starting and I have 1710 chips left and about to take the 150 BB.

Blinds 10/20.
Hand 1: UTG: 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
Hand 2: MP: 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG folds, UTG+1 calls, two folds.
Hand 3: BTN: A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] UTG folds, UTG+1 calls, UTG+2 folds, MP1 raises to 140, two folds.

Blinds 15/30.
Hand 4: UTG+1: 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] UTG folds.

Blinds 25/50.
Hand 5: BTN: J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] UTG folds, UTG+1 calls, four folds.

Blinds 50/100. Stack is now 2500 because I lost a pot with the JT
Hand 6: CO: K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] UTG, UTG+1, UTG+2 call, two folds
Hand 7: MP: 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG calls, two folds.
Stack is now 1800
Hand 8: BTN: Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG folds, UTG+1 calls, four folds.

Hands 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 fold preflop

Hands 5 and 8 are fine to play primarily because of your positional advantage at the table. Sometimes I raise. Sometimes I limp behind.

Hand 7 is obviously playable in nearly any position.

I raise hand 4 and hand 7, often hand 8 as well dependent on my read on the limper (sometimes limp behind). You are too shallow to limp behind hand 6 but deeper I'd play it.

Are you suggesting re-raising ATo after MP1 raised it 7x BB?

You crazy son?

Hand 4 is the 44 UTG+1, and since you are 100 deep I think raising is fine for set value.

1) Good hand to raise UTG with deep stacks. You can bet many flops anyway HU as opponents put you on a big pair, and easily check/fold if you get 3 callers and miss. When you hit the flop hard you win a huge pot a lot - who puts you on 98s here? Limping probably isn't that bad, just that raising is better.

2) Limp

3) Fold

4) Raise, for the same reason as (1)

5) I was about to say limp, then noticed UTG+1 also open limped hand 3 (is this all at one table like your notes suggest). Would he fold to a raise or check/fold lots of flops? If so raising in position might be good?

6) Same guy open limping again? Probably fold as you are playing solely for a flush/2 pair. Limping is ok as well.

7) Can be a raise or limp, depending on how UTG plays.

8) See (5)
