Speaking of army songs, I always recall Bob Dylan's "Masters of War" when I read govman6767's endless posts promoting the US Army:

I like BD in general. At the same time, it's pretty easy to be critical about [whatever] when you're sitting around getting high, playing folk songs on a guitar, and pretty much living through the sexual revolution.

A lot of these same peace/love types who were crying to end the war were the same people calling troops baby-killers, and spitting on them in airports when they returned.

Just for clarification, I'm not an American, a peacelover or a pacifist, etc. You could describe my political stance simply as a 'socialist' but this is not the real issue.

With all my respect for Govman's efforts, i think he takes advantage of every opportunity to evangelize his political opinions. Although I believe that most of the things in our lives are closely related with politics, we should look for a proper groung for political discussions. And obviously, Psychology forum of 2+2 is not the proper ground.

In despite of my very little contribution, I love to read 2+2 forums because of my admiration to this beautiful game called 'poker'. Please acknowledge my astonishment when someone insistently suggests us to join the army as an answer to most of our problems, which are voiced in poker forums.

Someone asks us about the relation between our social lifes and poker. He strikes again: "Join the army!!". Someone complains about a bad beat.. Join the army, then you will see the real bad-beat ).. Someone complains about his poor bankroll management.. As Bob Dylan once said, "No reason to get excited," here comes the solution: Join the army! You won't even have enough time to rack your brain on where to spend. etc..

One thing I have learned from poker, taking yourself too seriously is the absolute way to lose.

A little empathy, please..

Well, you made it a point to link to Masters of War lyrics and made the association in the first place. That's what I was responding to.

Genso,

I didn't take offense at your comments. In my last post, I just tried to reveal my discomfort about the subject. The reason of my mentioning Bob Dylan's song is because Mr. Govman reminded us army songs and the recruiting slogan of the U.S. Army, "Be All You Can Be".. I thought it would be very sarcastic to send a link to "Masters of War", that's all.

Thanks to your respond.

i thought the reason we all played poker is cause it's a super easy way to make lots of $$$; so we should have loads of free time to do [censored]?

instead we spend all day reading 2+2 and grinding

Standard

I make more money doing less than at any point in my life. I don't have a commute to work. I don't have to get dressed up.

Yet, somehow, I do less other stuff than I did with a full time job and little free time. Seems all I do is eat, sleep, play poker, and think about playing poker.

To the OP: I just moved to a new city where I don't know anyone or speak the language very well. Instead of trying really hard to meet people or get better at German, I end up just playing poker all day in my apt.

I LOL'ed at this.

1) I'm in Iraq now and hate it.
2) Anyone who joins the Armed Services now is crazy
3) 15 month deployments and not a guarentee of a year home.

Joining the Armed Services is Problably Silly right now especially if you actually studied for more than 2 hours a year in high school.

BUT

1) In this forum we have nothing but addictive personality disorders.
2) No Order in their Life
3) No More Money left
4) Possibly suicidal because they are retarded and think they have no way out.

The armed services will provide a solution to most of those problems.

If I had to join the service I'd join the coast guard or something not the Army or such.

Iraq is a craphole and it's too freaken hot right now.
I dont' suggest your ordinary joe to sign up.

Just the people who spam this forum with their suicide notes. Busto with no way out notes. And how they just can't stop gambling notes.

Joing a Service will solve their problems.

If you suck at poker and lose 300 bucks a week but are making 1000 bucks a week and poker just makes you miserable.
Or you had a bad week or blah blah then yes you dont' need to change your life around. Take a few shrink pills and talk to Dr. Katz
