the reason that TAG is a better way to play goes beyond just percieved effectiveness @ the felt.

TAG = LESS VARIANCE
LESS VARIANCE results in perhaps smaller returns than some very good LAG but will still have good results.

I see your point, but variance is not your enemy. -EV decisions are. As long as you're making +EV decisions, the rest should take care of itself. If you're on a severely limited bankroll, then sure, variance becomes an issue. But if your roll is that small, you don't really have a roll and you probably shouldn't be gambling. Like the saying goes, "Don't worry about things you can't control." You're just wasting energy if you're worrying about variance.
