Re: Pooh-Bah Post: Loose Aggressive Play
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] in finance, we are regularly reminded of the importance of risk factor etc. this RISK factor is often required to understand the return on a certain project or investment. this is the same for poker. The higher the risk, your damn investment better be higher. Playing marginal spots will definately.. higher the risk higher the return is required to factor in risk. the reason that TAG is a better way to play goes beyond just percieved effectiveness @ the felt. TAG = LESS VARIANCE LESS VARIANCE results in perhaps smaller returns than some very good LAG but will still have good results. high/drunk post/rant [/ QUOTE ] I see your point, but variance is not your enemy. -EV decisions are. As long as you're making +EV decisions, the rest should take care of itself. If you're on a severely limited bankroll, then sure, variance becomes an issue. But if your roll is that small, you don't really have a roll and you probably shouldn't be gambling. Like the saying goes, "Don't worry about things you can't control." You're just wasting energy if you're worrying about variance. [/ QUOTE ]that post was months ago, madbuddha has been busto for a long time now. |
