trip aces but am i really that thrilled?
3/6 6m party. ive been playing decently snug. i have $664 to start the hand.
i make it $21 with AJo utg. guy who seems kinda maniacal but tricky and good handreader calls UTG+1. he covers. he has 3bet me a couple of times but not coldcalled before. flop is A52r. i bet $40 into $48, he calls. turn is another A. i bet $100 into $138, he calls. river is 9. i bet $150 into like $325 or whatever, he minraises me without thinking. i fold. what do u think of my play and do u have an alternative line for me? ill post thoughts after some repliesl. |

Re: trip aces but am i really that thrilled?
so you dont even think youre good here 20% of the time? if he has a boat why wouldnt he either put in a raise on the turn or a bigger river raise to play for stacks? cuz from his point of view if he has you beat, youre not calling here w/o an ace and if you do have one it might be more +EV for him to push or something?
is he the type to flatcall with a worse A pf? i mean youre getting decent odds on the end here...Thoughts? |

Re: trip aces but am i really that thrilled?
rofl.
I like it, I think he is boated up very often here. The only seed of doubt in my mind is your less than half-pot river bet which he may misconstrue as weakness and be value-raising worse or making some wierd play. I'd make it $200 on the river and fold to the raise, but its a fairly small point. |

Re: trip aces but am i really that thrilled?
cts - if you wanted to bet/fold this river how much would you make it? (Assuming you ever want to bet fold?)

Re: trip aces but am i really that thrilled?
cts, while i understand that the numbers look appealing, i think i am veeeery unlikely to be good - if u had to guess, how often would u say we are ahead here? i would say <10%...

Re: trip aces but am i really that thrilled?
btw i was more interested in the rest of the line. the river decision after he raises is like shrug, i guess it could go either way. but as i played the hand i wanted to check every street like SOOO bad. so... alternative lines + reasoning?

Re: trip aces but am i really that thrilled?
Given your history you are most likely not good here. If he has been 3-betting you and just cold called this time. With a flop of A52r there are no real draws. With you betting the size of the pot he has no reason to raise here, and is most likely playing 55 or 22. If he raises flop and you have air you are gone. Turn when you fire again he is full and has position and no reason to raise yet.
Maybe I am passive but given the history and the way the hand played out i think i check the river. |
