Default Re: Harrah\'s Diamond Card in 1 Day.

Pretty much I'm doing it for the Diamond Lounge LOL. A theoretical loss of a couple hundred dollars would outweigh my bartab to be over the year, which is the expiration date of a card.

I've seen a couple 100 play machines in AC, I doubt their EV is anything worth my time. I'm writing a program to calculate it; but I won't get my hopes up.

how are you accumulating bar tabs in a casino? drinks are free even if you are playing penny slots or $2/4 hold em.

the diamond lounges (and unlimited use of them for you and a friend) are one of the few unique perks that HET Diamond offers. but unless you hit a royal flush on VP or run ridiculously good on smaller hands, you will very likely lose more than $1000 on DIAD. I don't think you will eat enough free cold cut sandwiches and pasta (Diamond Lounges don't have full spread hot buffets) and drink MORE than you would already drink for free from regular low-limit gambling. if you say you live close to AC then you probably don't need the free hotel rooms either.

the diamond card expiration date is not a full year from the day you earn it. all diamonds expire in march of the following year, even if you only got it 4 months before in december. the fact that it's already late july kills half your expected liquor EV.

what do you need to calculate? there are free VP resources all over the internet that already figured all this out for you.

Diamond tier is valuable for sustained, high-volume players who play enough over time to renew annually and keep their ADT's up for future offers. I really don't think it's worth chasing just for a few months of booze that costs the casino little or nothing to serve up to you.

if you want to do it, do it. don't get all pseudo academic about your strategy like it matters.

i thought it was just 1 year from when you attained it. i just earned diamond (10,000 way) during my last trip to vegas a few weeks ago.

i did't see all that much exciting by becoming diamond. anything i should be aware of?

[/ QUOTE ]
Diamond expiration date is the march of the year FOLLOWING your most recent year of earning at least 10,000 tier points. so if you've already hit that threshold in 2007, then your Diamond status will be good through March of 2009. however you will not get a new card with that date until March 2008.

since you're already diamond, you should at least know all the benefits that go with it. off the top of my head:

no play required:
- unlimited free parking (garage or valet)
- unlimited use of any Diamond Lounge in the country for you and one guest
- priority lines for restaurants, clubs, cashier, hotel registration, taxi
- free entry to spa (special services extra)
- at least one free vegas hotel stay per year
- invitation to Summerfest and Winterfest free slot tournaments
- discounts at gift shop and business center
- free tickets to "house" show performances
- use points for travel arrangements and airfare
- call liquors and bottled beer while gambling (sometimes the waitresses can't give these to non-Diamonds)

based on play:
- free rooms
- cashback and comp point multipliers
- free tournaments

also, the Borgata (AC) and Venetian (LV) will upgrade you to THEIR vip tier card for free if you show them your Harrah's Diamond Card. the borg upgrade offer is particularly generous.

Default ? on Caesars AC diamond lounge

When I was at Caesars in Vegas (the diamond lounge) a waiter told me that in AC they had crab legs and prime rib. Is that true? If so I might make a trip out there sometime!

food spreads at the AC diamond lounges vary widely. since it's free unlimited use, HET sometimes has a mentality of "you'll take whatever we decide to put out and like it". I mean, I've been to Caesars Palace LV diamond lounge many times and they've almost NEVER had any hot food to speak of. in AC, most of the time all you get is sandwiches, salad, one kind of cooked meat, rice/pasta/taters and dessert. but yes I've occasionally seen a carving station, though perhaps not lobster and crab legs. I'm not too picky when it comes to free though so I've always been happy with the service. the only thing to compare it to in AC is Borgata's Amphora Lounge. they always have an excellent full buffet spread with at least two carving stations, but they also charge $10 comp dollars per visit (no cash), so you're essentially paying for it with your actual gambling theo.

showboat probably has the leanest menu, but it's still way better than paying for food anywhere else in the casino. bally's and caesars AC are good, and I ASSUME Harrah's AC was good only because the one time I tried to go there there was like a one hour line out the door and I gave up.

I'd definitely say that LV diamond lounges are smaller and offer less than their AC counterparts. couldn't tell you why that is though. maybe because AC is more of a "locals" market where a higher percentage of players have made Diamond level over time. the Harrah's gambling has gotten really terrible on the strip over the past few years. anyone who makes Diamond JUST from playing in vegas is giving up a lot more EV than people in other markets.

Is it even possible to qualify for diamond playing poker only? I've worked up about $300 in comps, but i don't think I'll ever get above gold.

I would think it's impossible to get Diamond status playing poker. I know for a fact that because of the Missouri Loss Limit, you can gain points and status much more quickly with the same average bet in Missouri over other Harrah's properties. But I don't think the "perks" are worth adjusting your bet size or play to get.

knowing your comp dollars unfortunately isn't enough information. what you need to know is whether or not Harrah's gives TIER points to poker players. those are the only points that matter for going from Gold to the higher card levels.

I have a strong feeling they don't, which would therefore make it mathematically impossible get an upgrade without playing casino games directly against the house.

perhaps if you score big in a WSOP-sponsored event, they might be able to hook you up with something if you ask (cause they'd want to try and win back some of that big payday elsewhere in the casino). but definitely not just from regular ring game play.

a handful of casinos (most notably Borgata in AC) will upgrade you to VIP with a LOT of high-limit poker play - whatever is required for you to reach $1000 comp dollars in a calendar year. but this kind of setup is in the extreme minority.

Probably. If your average bet was high enough, and they know you're not a "local" that will accrue points on a regular basis, I'm sure they have a formula in place that would award you Diamond status, hoping to get your business whenever you're in the area.
