This is a tough hand, but I really think the best play might be to fold the turn. I can't see him potting with less than the 9-hi straight here so if we call down and our hand's good, we'll only be getting half the pot anyway (a $375 gain).

However, the reverse implied odds are huge against T7 and if a blank river comes, he could easily pot a 9-hi straight again trying to move us off a chop. Also, even if our hand's good right now, we could be getting freerolled if he's got two pair or a spade draw with the straight.

It would be a very difficult laydown from a psychological standpoint, but I'm pretty sure getting out of the pot with minimal damage is the best EV move.

I'd fold here.

You had one redraw to worry about with just the 9, the fact that there is also a flush possible makes this hand too scary to continue with, especially deep stacked like that.

I fold and save to fight another day.

I fold here also and just cut my losses. You have to consider the stack sizes as well. When you're playing another opponent and both have 350bb, both players are going to play a little more cautiously and villian in this spot doesn't seem like hes slowing down.

I can't see him betting anything worse than 9hi straight here either, and with the stacks being so deep, I def could see this being 79Tx because he really seems confident in his hand. I fold the turn.

What do we do if the turn is the 9c giving us the NFD???

I have to agree with iggy here. the reverse implied odds are so huge if he does hold T7 your best play might be to fold on the turn.

btw, I posted the hand in finnish poker forums where about 1/3 were calling the turn, 1/3 were folding and rest 1/3 were pushing.

I pushed. he folded after much thought.

you dont think we were splitting with 79xx? or that he had a set and perhaps caught a flush draw on turn? anyways I have no idea what play is the best. a lot of players who's opinion I respect were strongly disagreeing with each other here.

If he had a set + fd he is calling here. It seems unlikely that he would bet that hand and ruin his implied odds. I do think that his most likely hand is 79xx and that he thought you had a set, and didn't want to give a free card.

Having thought about this more, I like your play, but I definitely was in the fold camp and think the decision is close.

Having said that, how did you read his turn bet?

honestly, I didnt know what it means and what to do so I just pushed. That is what scandinavian aggro monkeys do when they panic I had a feeling I was still ahead but I guess that is just because of my SH/HU NL background.
