From the way you tell the story, the player laying down the hand knew that Andy was a very solid player and was probably not a great player himself. The novice player would likely put the solid player on AA, KK (or something very close to that) when he raised from the BB. When the turn put both an A and a K on the board, it was an "easy" laydown for our novice. He got "lucky" that his read was wrong but his laydown was correct. Novices often see monsters where they shouldn't.

It was a terrible laydown (mathematically) that ended up being lucky (unless our novice is not really a novice and had a super read on your solid player).

i was playing the 2am tourney at binions ... The first player is in seat 3, his name is Andy Nguyen. he is actually a dealer at the horseshoe.

Pardon the hijack, but do they really let dealers play at their own casinos in Vegas? Pretty sure that's a no-no in AC. Just curious.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't know of any who don't allow their dealers to play, and several allow them to play on the clock. It's usually great, because many of them aren't really all that good, and most of the time, aren't as good as they think they are.

Not including the ones who are members of 2+2. They are scary.

That was a weak/tight call indeed. If he goes on to win the tournament, it's world-class. If he's out in 30 minutes, that's the more likely result of this Phil Helmuth-class laydown.

Binion's tournaments weren't exactly thriving when I played there besides the Binion's Classic. Both tournaments I played in had dealers in there. I almost htink they encourage it to enhance the experience (dealers are talkative and friendly) and also get more players.

A - 100% the wrong forum, but you already know that.

B - Since this thread was cross-posted in the tourny forums I gotta lock it. Please don't cross-post in the future because I have no way of combining the two threads.
