What i would like to know is how i use equity to make certain decisions.

Like this one, i know someone will have the flush, everyone calls, should i also call on the flop?

BB is 45/2/.5
SB is 40/6/.3
CO is 70/13/.7
(table selection is +EV..)


7 outs to beat the flush which could be less as the BB bet might indicate he has hit the J or K just wants to know if someone has the flush.

So, how would u calculate using pokerstove(and what would be their range) in this situations? [img]/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]

Actually, I think you are. I'd make a psr on the flop, if not a bit more considering how many callers there were. Even if you're behind to a flopped flush, well, you've got good outs and if 2 people come along your equity is fine.

Agree with above poster. Although whether I raise would depend a little on how aggressive/passive the other players in the pot are. I would be less inclined to raise 2-3 very aggressive players here, because I can't really call if I get shoved on and I lose the chance to draw out on a flush.

The more aggressive the more you can call. Aggro opponents will be pushing with pairs plus Ah, combo draws and other crap. It's the passive ones that you need to worry about.

You have a set, you're going to be good often enough and dominating sometimes to make this a go to the felt on the flop.

if he's flopped a flush you have a little more than 33% equity

It's against their range that we're raising -- and that range is flopped flushes + a whole looooooaaad of other stuff. In fact, mini donk, call, call, call makes me think that no-one "has" it all that often. Everything but the flopped flush we Have to raise or we're making a FTOP error, giving infinite odds to drawing hands. And we're not all that bad in terms of equity, 0EV in fact, if two of 'em go all the way -- evin if one of them has flopped the flush or not.

Sure, you're going to be behind here sometimes, but not as often as you think.
