Default Re: Worst blackjack player you\'ve ever seen?

last week at showboat on saturday i was full of a table of horrible people, couldn't switch cause was no seats anywhere

i saw, hit on soft 20 vs 6
double down with a 16 vs 4 ???
split 5s vs a 5

oh and one guy split 20 and got 21 on both hands but he's a genius, he had the heart of the cards and knew what was coming

there was a bunch more like that, but the soft 20 was the best cause he started with soft 13 and worked his way up to that 20 before hitting again

Not even close. Playing at Binion's when it was really the Horseshoe, a guy next to me tucks his two cards vs dealer's 8 in a single-deck game. Dealer completes his hand and turns the guy's two cards over. Pocket aces. No split; no hit; just stand. My jaw dropped.

Does online elimination tournies count?

The chipleader getting two tens vs. dealer 8, double down to catch another ten for a 30 is fairly bad.

That's bad, but if you want to include tournament play, I've got a contender. Live bj tournament where naturals pay 2:1. Guy next to me catches a natural and doubles for less. Rather than taking a certain 2X his bet, he has now settled for a max payoff of 1.x X his bet and risked losing the hand entirely. And none of the other players seemed to think it was an unusual move

[/ QUOTE ]If you've played blackjack tournaments, you know there are times you have to make odd plays to have a chance. If I was playing a tourney that paid a normal 3:2 on a blackjack, got a blackjack, and needed to get even more money on the table, I'd consider doubling, especially against a 6. But if it already pays 2:1, there's no point. And doubling for less is always dumb, even in tournament settings.

All blackjack players are awful. They are playing a zero sum game.

Um poker is a zero sum game (or a negative sum game with the rake) but that doesn't make all poker players awful DOUCY?
