Re: 100nl: AK, oop, I want to cry.
reraise preflop enough to force out most of villain's hands. the idea would be to win without seeing a flop.
As played, I think you should call the river. It seems like villain is trying to push you out with a missed draw. I just don't believe he "slow played" a set or two pair on this draw heavy board just to overbet the river. |

Re: 100nl: AK, oop, I want to cry.
Its not off at all, theres like 16bb in the pot, which you will usually win when you 3bet. In fact, you will win it enough that you could check fold every flop when called and still make money on the hand. You wouldn't obviously check fold the flop though, you'd make even more money by flopping a pair and valuebetting it or by cbetting a Qxx flop, etc.
By the way, AK is a fantastic hand. Drawing hand, made hand, this is all rubbish. Using these terms is pointless. All you need to know about preflop hands in poker is which are profitable for a specific situation and which are not. The fact is that QQ+ and AK play their best here with a large reraise preflop, and the only reason you'd want to do anything any differently is to mix up your play, which even mixing it up is pretty pointless in this spot, at these limits. |
