I've been heavily interested in iBanking for some time. If I graduate with a 3.85 GPA in Computer Science & Engineering from a west-coast school how should I go about entering the field?

I hear it's damn near impossible to get your foot in the door.

Many of these banks actually hire PhDs in physics and chemistry to do their analysis, because they know they have brilliant people working for them who can handle their work and adapt their knowledge to their business.

As has been said he wants to be in IB not a quant (guys that work with the math models that the traders use). And I'm not sure about a chem PhD, but I do know they definatly love physics and math PhDs.

Your GPA should be fine this is a summary of a resume book for a BB firm (ripped from a post on ibankingoasis, post by Dan Bush)

GPAs: 75% between 3.3-3.5
Roughly 10% 3.0-3.29
Roughly 10% 3.51-3.8
No diversity in terms of school:
Ivys: Yale,Harv,Prin,Corn,Colum,Penn,Dart,Brow
Top: Stan,MIT,Berk,William Thats IT, those are all the schools

Are you saying that those schools listed are the only ones represented in bulge bracket firms?

Michael,

A chem PhD will probably have some very solid physics, and math skills. So he likely would be farther behind the other two if at all in analytical skills.
