AQs against solid WSEX reg
Preflop isn't standard (usually 3-bet ldo) but that's not what I'm interested in here.
Solid wsex regular opens to $3 in MP or CO. 6-handed. Effective stacks $115. Folded to me in the BB with AQhh, I call. Flop: J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($6) Hero checks, MP bets $4, Hero raises to $12, MP calls. Turn: 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($29) Hero bets $19 (I have reasons for underbetting a bit here, but I don't think it's what's important in the hand), MP calls to my surprise. River: T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($67) Hero has $82 left..... a) overbet shove b) Value bet $60-$65 c) attempt to checkraise all-in |

Re: AQs against solid WSEX reg
Shove. I would also consider 3 betting preflop, and if you are going to c/r the flop, make it like $16.
I like shoving because he might have a hard time putting you on a flush, so he should call with a set. He might have a smaller flush which he is obviously never folding. But of course it depends on history and how he views you, etc. |

Re: AQs against solid WSEX reg
why not value bet? any lower flush and maybe trips is most likely reraising you all-in that would call your shove, but you might have a lot of 2 pair, tptk calling your valuebet

care to explain turn bet [/ QUOTE ] OK, sure. Some guys will call this flop CR with overcards or even total air, but not this villain. He is 100% ahead of me when he calls that bet. Therefore on the turn, I want to bet enough to give him a chance to fold a better hand (like AJ) and enough to keep him from thinking about raising medium strength hands that beat me... but not so much that I can't call when he does raise his strong hands... and not so much that I'm just pissing away money as he calls me down with KK. The one detriment to betting a little smaller is that now the pot isn't quite big enough for me to shove the river without it being an overbet. Further, I don't think betting, say, $25 gives me that much more fold equity anyway. Betting a little smaller than usual can make some villains feel like I have a super monster and I'm trying to entice him into a call. My line is pretty damn strong... CR the flop and lead the turn a little weaker than usual often = monster. |
