Re: Harrah\'s New Orleans Floor Decision
[ QUOTE ]
"Verbal bets are binding" works fine in limit games. This is the age of no limit. Make them push the chips forward. Until this is the standard, the situation just won't be satisfactory. [/ QUOTE ] And in the old days it worked fine in NL because the players all new each other. |

Re: Harrah\'s New Orleans Floor Decision
I think if nothing else (being a regular at Harrah's) I've learned one thing here. Someone pushes, ask for a count to get the chips in the middle. I guess the flip side of a verbal call would be different.
Just out of curiosity, who was the dealer? |

Re: Harrah\'s New Orleans Floor Decision
[ QUOTE ]
I was in a kill game today, and the guy who won the pot got called to the main game. It was his kill, so he had to post the kill before he moved. The floor guy was standing right there so I asked him, "what if he wants to quit. Does he still have to put in his kill?" He said that he did. He could quit if he wanted to, but he'd have to leave the kill money in the pot. Same situation. The guy could just quit and say, "screw you. I'm not putting nothin in." [/ QUOTE ] If a player require dto post a kill refuses to post the kill, the procedure is that the player is not permitted to play in the room until he posts the kill. |

[/ QUOTE ] I just disagree with you on this. Pushing out an all-in bet is often impractical. Player with a large stack of chips pushes all in on the river.the game should come to a halt now while he pushes out the whole thing before his opponenet can act? thats just silly. |

Re: Harrah\'s New Orleans Floor Decision
[ QUOTE ]
This is the dealers fault in all circumstances where there is a bet and call that totals more than $500 the money should be put into the pot. That way there is no discussion whether or not someone said call or all in. I feel every room should take this into consideration. Lets put it this way if your playing 10-25NL in las vegas and your from lets say Iowa why would you trust any one on a $1000 bet and call. I want that money in the pot. But what do I know They fire floormen like me with balls to back up the player [/ QUOTE ] Since this is the dealers fault, can you tell me as a dealer what I shoyuld do in this situation: Player A on the river announces ALL-IN and Player B immediately Says Call and tables the nuts. What was I suppose dto do to get the chips into the middle? Should I grabbed Player A's chips and put them in the middle myself? Or should I have used my magical powers to stop time before the player with the nuts called, then while time was stopped I could have made Player A put all the chips out. The policy of requiring the chips be pushed out into the pot on every all-in is just not a practical one. |

A player with many even stacks might simply breakdown one stack and multiply without moving the chips into the pot. |

[ QUOTE ]
Just for the Louisiana and Mississippi guys here. Who thinks that you have any legal problems whatsoever if you give the guy a beatdown and just scoop the $1200? [/ QUOTE ] Why do you think MS and LA are different from any other place in this respect? The police are just as likely to arrest you for assaulting someone here as LA or Atlantic City. BTW, I live in MS. |

Just for the Louisiana and Mississippi guys here. Who thinks that you have any legal problems whatsoever if you give the guy a beatdown and just scoop the $1200? Will the NOPD or LA State Police even give a crap as long as the guy lives through it? [/ QUOTE ] If it happens while the guy is still in the casino, I'd say you have a reasonable chance of avoiding legal problems and also getting your money on the spot. At worst, I'm guessing you'd at least get the guy's ID so you can pursue the matter in civil court. If this happens outside the casino, I wouldn't want to get caught. I think there's a real possibility of criminal charges against you holding up. Actually, it's not as much a matter of location as it is time elapsed and camera coverage. |
