$5 common preflop spot in first level
I don't have the HH, but what do you do when this happens in the first level with 15/30 blinds (no reads)?
UTG+1 raises to 120 You are next to act with 99. I feel like if I raise to 350 or so, I can't call a shove. Also, if he calls, I can get in trouble on a lot of flops. I can't see folding. I guess that leaves calling as the best option? It seems like that is a weak way to play, especially when your opponent fires out on a flop. Do you exclusively play for set value? Whatis the consensus? |

EP - facing a 4xbb raise from UTG+1 - in the first level - with a middle pair... This is a pretty standard fold in my opinion.... |

I'm folding here, but I am also considerably tighter than most in the early going.

You can call with $1500 stacks.

Re: $5 common preflop spot in first level
If you can play postflop a call isn't horrible. If you are willing to get it all in on the flop with an OP everytime then fold. 99 would be my lowest pp I'd call off 120 preflop.

Re: $5 common preflop spot in first level
I guess I am playing too tight then, because I didn't even consider a muck. It is 1500 stacks, so can't we at least call for set value? The only problem with this is there are people to act behind us, so maybe a muck is the best option.
