Default Re: Medium Pocket Pairs possible leak

I think I was vague on the probe bet. That question was referring to me limping, getting called by 1 or 2 players, I am in position and it is checked to me. It would also be a probe bet if I limped, was raised by one player, I call in position and flop comes and he checks. Wouldnt a bet by me in that position be considered a probe bet?

And you are totally on point, I have to learn to let those medium pairs go on a flop with bad texture and facing a bet. It just seems here lately like every time I am in this scenario and I fold the set comes on the turn or river. If I decide to cintinue with the hand I obv. lose way more than I win. My play to continue chasing the set has to be -ev and is prob my biggest leak.

Thanks for the insight. This forum has made me a winning player and with the advice and my commitment I know it will only get better.

Yes, I think that would be considered a probe bet. (I'm assuming you're thinking something in the neighborhood of 1/2 the pot). I'll often make a probe bet here although it would depend somewhat on the board and the other players as well as if there are others to act behind.
