Sure, Jerry says some silly stuff, but I don't see how anyone could seriously dislike him. In fact, I think the public will love this guy (unless ESPN intentionally portrays him as being unlikeable).
Also, while his technical poker skills leave quite a bit to be desired, I thought his overall gameplan for the final table was excellent. He knew he couldn't outplay his more experienced opponents, so he didn't try to. Instead, he played like a maniac and put his opponents to tough decisions.
For all the talk last year about Gold putting on a "clinic" on big-stack play, the fact is he made hand-over-hand so many times that it would have been impossible for him not to win. Yang, on the other hand, had pretty neutral luck as far as coinflips, suckouts, bad beats, etc. Yet he was still able to beat better players, simply because he had a clear strategy, and he had the balls to stick to it when many players would have gone into a shell.
