I'm not offering Kobe up as someone who should not be on the team to make room for AI. But if Kobe is a no-brainer to be on the team, AI certainly is also. There is no question these two could co-exist. These two, plus Wade, LeBron, and three shooter/defender types should be the seven guards on this team, without question. It's just that somebody has the perception of Iverson as a selfish player (maybe true in 1998, certainly not true in the last three or four years) and wants to make him the poster boy for the type of player that brought the team down, according to popular belief.

Depends. Individual player? Yes. Team player? No.

That said, I do love Iverson and I think he should be on the team for the fact that he appreciates the opportunity if nothing else. I don't get this at all.

IMO Marbury was a much bigger problem than AI in the last Olympics. It was one thing for Stephon to make the team, but for him to play as much as he did was mind boggling. As the Sports Guy said, it was like Isiah Thomas put that team together.

I love Iverson, don't get me wrong. I think he busts his ass, I think he's got a huge heart, and I think he's very exciting to watch.

I just don't think his particular style of play translates well to a team game - it's his "curse" if you will. Maybe that was the thinking behind this, although if that's the case I don't know how you could put Kobe on and leave Iverson off.

As for Marbury, I think he's one of the biggest cancers in the game right now. He and Thomas deserve each other.

everyone says this but i dont get where its coming from. ai always plays very well in all star games with other great players.

Can't we just send the Detroit Pistons. I'm pretty sure they would destroy any non-NBA team in existence.
