Default New Notebook and Monitor Purchase Advice Please!

Wassup guys. My laptop fried out (while I was doing well in 3 mtt's, SWEET!) and I am having a Dell sent to me and I'd like some advice.

The one I am considering is the Latitude D531. AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-60 processor w/1GB RAM and XP pro. Is there a better choice from Dell? Any options I should be concerned with?

I'm considering getting the 2407wfp monitor. Is it a good choice? Is there a better choice from Dell?

I multitable, but generally max at 4 games although I may go to 6 occasionally. I run Pokertracker w/ PokerAce HUD. I play mainly Stars and FT. Should I select certain options to have the system better suit my needs?

Thanks in advance!

Get the least amount of RAM you can from Dell possible. Then upgrade to the max your machine will allow by purchasing some from NewEgg.

realistically, when it comes to poker, if you only want it for poker, you basically want the cheapest machine available with a 1920x1200 screen.

these are almost always from dell ('cause the high res screens from other places are only ever on high end machines)

beyond that, the intel core 2 duo is widely acknowledged as exceptional value.

XP is going to be better than Vista, especially given that the software you're using is not particularly high quality, and since XP will be less demanding on your system.

2407 monitor is great - i have two, and use one as a TV, however, unless you're using it for something that takes advantage of the widescreen (eg, widescreen TV, gaming) you're better off with a 2007 simply 'cause they're cheaper.

also, the impending release of Holdem Manager (www.holdemmanager.net) will further reduce the demands on your system.

Thanks for the tips.

I looked at a screen cap of hold'em manager and it looks damn powerful.

Got a question, why get a 1920x1200 screen res. laptop and not a 1920x1200 monitor? Wouldn't it be cheaper the other way? You seem to be saying get the 19x12 laptop screen but go with the 16x12 2007 monitor. Am I understanding that correctly?

i don't think you'll find a 1600x1200 monitor for retail in a laptop.

i searched recently for my purchase, and hence, got a 1920x1200.

The 1920x1200 is the laptop screen size?

Sorry to seem stupid about it, I'm a bit confused.
