Omaha High - Home Game - Flopped the Nuts
I play in a home game where the dealer can call Hold'Em or Omaha. I am definitely an Omaha novice so please excuse me if this is a basic (or ridiculous?) question. In the Omaha games there is typically a lot of limping and calling almost any preflop raise to see the flop. Omaha home game - .25/.50, 8 handed. SB has ~$30, MP1 has ~$30. I have the button and about $90. SB plays his draws pretty aggressively. He will definitely bet, raise and call all-in flop bets when is is drawing. He rarely slow plays when he has a made hand. MP1 is straight forward. He will call when he is drawing and bet/raise when he has made a hand. On the button, I deal myself 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Preflop: Three limpers to me, I call, SB completes, BB checks Pot Size $3.00 Flop is 3-4-7 with 2 clubs and a spade. SB bets $8 2 Folds MP1 calls 1 fold Hero???? What about calling and pushing on any safe turn card? I could be behind on the flop depending on who is drawing to what. If I call, then SB will likely fire at any turn and MP1 might call. I can then push. I can get away from the hand on a club or if the board pairs. If I push on the flop, I give SB > 2-1 to call - the pot would be ~$49 and he has about $22 left. MP1 would be getting > 3-1 if SB calls. Do you just push the flop here, or try to get it in on a turn non-club or board pairing? Preflop comments welcome, I am definitely more interested in the flop and turn, though. |

calling and pushing a safe turn card is absolutely fine.

In this spot I prefer to shove. You will almost certainly get called in both spots. If you wait till the turn you might make an incorrect fold, or scare one of the other players off when they are behind. If you are very confident in your reads on the two players, calling might be better because you will rarely make a mistake on 4th.

It is more likely if an opponent has the same hand as you, he will make a mistake on a later street rather than you since he is out of position. Learn to use this to your advantage. |

calling and pushing a safe turn card is absolutely fine. [/ QUOTE ] im in total agreement. 30% of the time you see another club, 30% of the time the board pairs. if you catch a brick on the turn, your money is twice as safe when you poush, and his odds are twice as bad to call. |

I much prefer shoving here. Even if you're up against another 56... you hold blocks and a backdoor second nut flush draw for additional value.
