Default ($33) Bubble, AJ vs. SB push

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t200 (4 handed) converter

UTG (t2850)
Button (t4980)
SB (t3280)
Hero (t2390)

Preflop: Hero is BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">SB raises to t3380</font>

I'm having difficulty with this hand. SB has been mostly folding in this situation but has mixed in a few raises. This is the first time he has pushed in this situation however. I am not desperate here but feel my hand may be good. Is this a call or fold?

Fold, AJ is not a great hand to be calling with on the bubble when you still have plenty of FE.

This is very read-dependant. If SB is a push-botter who knows ICM well, then this is a call. But from what you've said about him folding his SB a number of times recently, you should probably lay this down.

It's only a +EV call if he's pushing 22+,A2+,K7o+,K4s+,QTo+,Q9s+,JTs or more. If you feel like he's in that range or tighter, lay it down. It's also important to consider that you still have about 11xBBs after a laydown here, so you're in fine shape.

A pushbotter that knows ICM well is not pushing that many hands at a 33. That's pure suicide with the general calling range of an unknown 33er.

[wild overgeneralization]i think that the calling ranges on the bubble, even at stakes as low as 33, are still disproportionately tight. [/wild overgeneralization]

that being said, let's say that we were a pushboptter who knew ICM well, thinking as if we were small blind. if BB's calling range was (liberally) 44+,A7s+,A9o+,KJs+, it would still be +EV to push with any two here. so yeah the range is pretty wide.

What is ICM again? Everytime I figure out what it means, I forget. Thanks

I agree with the poster that mentioned read-dependent.... if he has been folding in the SB a lot, and then suddenly pushes all in, then he sounds pretty serious. You can wait for a better situation on the bubble where you are pushing yourself, not calling an all-in for your stack (and a bubble finish).
