Studying beat
Beat: Studying for MCAT right now. Whenever I see a genetics question like this: "Suppose a man with a normal blood clotting marries a woman with normal blood clotting whose father was a hemophiliac. If this couple has three sons, what is the probability that hemophilia will be transmitted to all three of them?" I immediately think LOL the answer is 50% because they either all have it or they don't AMIRITE??
I read too much BBV obv. Beat: Sucking at my diagnostics, reading too much 2+2 Berate me so I can whip myself into pre-med studying mode. Or ban me til 9/7. |

Re: Studying beat
Umm, isn't that Gene reccessive? Meaning if the father doesn't have the Gene at all then the probability of ANY of them being hemophiliacs is zero? If he's a carrier just like the mother, then it'd just be 1/4^3=1/64, no?

Re: Studying beat
don't blame your incompetence on 2p2 or BBV4L haha
honestly last time i had to study really hard i removed my own modem and gave it to my sister to hold until a predetermined time... but i assume 99% of 2p2 couldn't live without internet unlike me |

Re: Studying beat
lol, that wasn't the purpose of the post but FYI I forgot to include the fact that hemophilia is determined by a sex-linked gene. now try again?

Sons would have 50% chance of having it and daughters 0. 3 sons = 1/2^3=1/8 And yes I'm well aware that my reply had nothing to do with the real point of your post. |
