[ QUOTE ]
I lost 9-7-2 last week (I know, way too many
categories) and my team had an OPS for the week of 1.163!

[/ QUOTE ]
lol, my season OPS went up 10 points the day after the break.

Even sicker is that I replaced Carlos Guillen with Ryan Braun as my UTIL guy (its only a 5 person league and I need extra SB).

Trade Proposal:
Proposal:
I'm giving up: Kenji Johjima, Ryan Braun, Shane Victorino
I'm getting: Joe Mauer, Bobby Abreu, Michael Cuddyer

Before you make a decision, please hear out my team situation. I was negotiating a trade yesterday and I was dangling Braun for some of his assets. It's an 10-team roto 5x5 (R HR RBI SB AVG x W SV K ERA WHIP). We have deep teams because we can wanted to pick up prospects and just store them there. Below are our rosters:

Me:
Hitters
Kenji Johjima
Ryan Howard
Chone Figgins
Garrett Atkins
Derek Jeter
Magglio Ordonez
Gary Matthews Jr.
Shane Victorino
Ryan Braun

Bench:
Hideki Matsui
Jim Thome
Adrian Gonzalez
Aaron Rowand
Placido Polanco
Jeff Francoeur

Pitchers:
Derek Lowe
Chien-Ming Wang
Jake Peavy
Brad Penny
John Smoltz (DL)
Bartolo Colon
Chris Carpenter (DL)
Chad Billingsley
Eric Gagne
Jeremy Accardo

Let's just evaluate my team for now. I need saves but I can't get any from him and other teams know I need saves so they won't budge. I am currently in 3rd place but I was atop the standing for almost a month and a half (due to Braun running sickly hot and my monstrous all-star pitching staff). I am top 3 in R, RBI, W, and ERA and dead last in saves and second to last in SBs. The team I'm dealing with is a self-proclaimed fantasy baseball guru in 7th place that needs immediate production and needs to make a move after All-star break

Proposal:
I'm giving up: Kenji Johjima, Ryan Braun, Shane Victorino
I'm getting: Joe Mauer, Bobby Abreu, Michael Cuddyer

I am getting a big improvement by getting Joe Mauer over Kenji. I have very iffy feelings for Bobby Abreu and I don't even think Cuddyer can make the cut to start in my field (I'd probably start Gary Matthews Jr. and Hideki over him as Cuddyer's performance has been average as of late). Also, Ryan Braun has been on some sick hot and Victorino (picked up recently) is going to help me drastically in the stolen base category that I really need (and also boost me to going from 3rd to 1st in the runs category). I could also get Mike Lowell instead of Cuddyer but I think I'd still start Atkins in 3B as he is finally running hot again

Seems like a crappy trade for you. Don't give up anything for Lowell, he usually sucks in the 2nd half. I'd rather have Victorino than either of the two outfielders you are getting - maybe Abreu will be better but quite possibly not.

This is a terrible trade for you. Back out. Braun isn't some "might be" prospect. He's a legit star. If the other guy doesn't want to give you fair value, then walk away. The fact that you are so staunchly trying to defend and explain this trade tells me you know it's bad and you are so desparate to make a move that you are trying to convince yourself it's a good deal. It's not.

sloth,
This seems a pretty fair value in that he is giving up Joe Mauer, who is probably a top 3 catcher (with Martin and Martinez) but was out for a while due to injury. I am not so much desperate to make a move but I know this is a good time to get a really good deal in as he slipped two more spots to 9th today. He is a very good manager as I've played with him in other fantasy leagues but i figured his need of immediate production is something I can take advantage of.

Right now he's offering Mark Texeira for Ryan Braun, straight up. Thoughts?

The rumor is that Mauer's leg is going to bother him for the rest of the year, although he hasn't looked too bad since the ASB. Prior to that he was hitting like .260 since coming off the DL over a month or so. He is likely to be a top 3 or 4 catcher, but you should be able to negotiate a better deal than this. Johjima has been pretty good this year, too, so you shouldn't be desperate there.

Think back about what it is you actually need and what you're being offered here. You need saves and steals. Braun has swiped a few bags already this year (8) and Victorino should help you in that regard, too. Texeira isn't going to give you any steals and there's no telling if he'll be better than Braun even when Braun cools off.

If you want to make a move, try to sell high on Ordonez and / or Braun, but get someone back that's going to help you with your needs. Move quick on Ordonez because he's never going to be worth more than he is now. Adding Mauer would be good for you but this 'guru' isn't giving you a good price.

I give: Mauer, Verlander, Cabrera
I get: Benjie Molina, Chipper Jones,Jeff Franceour, Gil Meche, Oliver Perez

I don't know what to take of this. I lose a top 5 3B, top 3 C, and a #1 starter. I get something in return. Theres no way to make this trade right?

My other starters are Carmona, Zambrano, Buerhle, Harang, and Willis. My OF is Abreau, Bonds, Swisher, Cuddyer, and Delmon Young.

Why are you even considering this? You're downgrading C and 3B. You're also getting an OF you don't need. I don't see how you could even consider Verlander for Meche/Perez. One plays for the Royals, the other is running sick hot.
