You need to raise more than that pf. You are going to get way too many callers. With this hand I only want 1 caller, 2 at most. You get more than that and you will lose more times than not.

those arguing against a 200 preflop raise haven't played many of these 4/180's. it's almost a guaranteed call by at least one player at this level.

that said I raise to 150 expecting 2 callers then reraise the flop bet, fold to a reraise behind me, or expect to get it all in against the original raiser...

i don't think i mind the flop fold, but in a 4/180 raising to 120-160 would be ideal utg

the amount of BB the raise is is almost irrelevant in the early stages of a 4$MTT. The starting stacks are 75BB deep and people here are more than happy to call 10BB with QJo because they see it as 200 out of 1500 and can fold if they miss flop, not 10xBB. With huge hands OOP play it like the blinds were 25/50 because these players have no sense of how deep they are

hope this made sense, sounded more clear in my head

Read MFlips post as to why this entire line of thought is dumb.

If you don't get it, you probably are no where near as profitable against good players as you should be.

this is a 4 buck tourny. raising less than 100 pf is unacceptable

everyone that is sayin to raise a lot is correct in these tournies and it is agreed that against better players u wouldnt employ the same strat. But these r different people that r willing to call wit very wide ranges for large chunks of their chips. When u raise to 4x or 3x at this level u end up playin ur monsters vs 5 or 6 people and the value of AA falls alot wit 5 opponents.

I agree raise it to 180 or 200 or so and play ur big pot vs 1 or mayb 2 inferior hands. In a higher buy in or if i know a couple people at the table i would go to 120 or so but here i think ur losin value if ur not goin to around 200 or higher
