[ QUOTE ]
At least when you get a bad run of cards in a cash game you can get up and leave, as opposed to a tourney where you have to watch your chips and buyin float away on your short stacked ace-rag last stand. [/ QUOTE ] The shuffling of cards is independent on the cards that were previously dealt. It is like in the coinflip example: what are the chances of flipping head when there were 10 tail filps in a row? Still 50%! There is no reason to leave a cash game, only because you have not been dealt playable cards before. There might be psychological reasons to leave if you get bored or something. |

I have found out that getting away for a day or 2 is best. I was on a good run for about 2 months and went from 300 to 1400 basically playing $4/180 and a bunch of the $10/27 and $10/45 on pokerstars and the $23/6 also. Ran bad for a week and was down to about 800 then stopped. Came back yesterday with a fresh attitude and cashed in a satellite and finished 2nd in $4/180, to get back some money and i feel so much better. Just have to learn when to get away when running bad

When I run bad in tournaments I usually go back to cashgames to make my buy-in back. I won't play another tournament before I have made my buy-in back in cashgames when I lose.

Ok, thanks guys...after multiple times dropping down below $200, it seems my bad run is over and I'm back to $325. I got 7th in a 360 man and 10th in a 180 man, and that got my confidence back and since then I've been running pretty solid. Sure, I've still been getting sucked out on (on the bubble just likt it was before) but now I can outplay the competition to get back (unlike during my streak where my mind was gone). At least I know it wasn't my playing. I was talking to a few players (making 10k+ per month playing online) and played some sng's and HU with them. They said I am playing fine and it's just a [censored] run. They sucked out on me each time to win (felt so bad after they sent me back my buyin lol). But, at least I know my game is still solid and how to deal with variance. Oh well, back to rebuilding...
