Default Shreveport/Bossier Poker Question

I haven't been out to the shreveport area in a while and wanted to get an update. The last time I went the El Dorado had about 15 tables and good games (but lots of regulars). The Horseshoe had about 8 tables and was nicer but much more cramped and a little tougher game (though not tough at all). Are these still the only 2 casinos in the area to have a real poker room? And if so which one is best these days? Thanks I know shreveport isn't a great poker city but it's all I've got in my area.

Also does either one have a poker room rate? They didn't the last time I went and I just looked online and both have outrageous weekend rates of like $175+fees for the El Dorado and $200+fees for the Horseshoe. If there is a poker room rate what's needed to qualify? Thanks!

Hello adam, I'm located just across the border from Shreveport (Longview, TX), so I make my way to Shreveport on a regular basis.

I have never stayed overnight in Shreveport before (only about an hour drive back home for me) but I can report that the Eldorado has recently shrunk their poker room by about 3 tables (replaced by evil slots).

BTW, the horseshoe is the much better option IMHO because they comp your play for $1 an hour and you can get some comped food for your play. I have never gotten any comps whatsoever at the Eldorado.

Sorry I couldn't help with the room rates but you may want to call the Horseshoe and ask for the poker room and inquire if they offer a poker room rate.

Adam,

I go over to Shreveport/Bossier City about twice a month and I would much rather play at the 'Shoe. I dont like the Eldorado, b/c all you hear is slot machines in the background and it makes me go insane. I like the comps that the 'Shoe gives. The 'Shoe does have a poker room rate, but they put you up at the Microtel. Not sure about the rate though.

PM the next time you head over there.

I believe the Horseshoe has more than eight tables. The Horseshoe has deal with Microtel motel(Clean,Safe, wireless internet, but very small rooms). While both rooms are smokefree in theory only the Horshoe forces you to leave the poker area to smoke. The Horseshoe actual has limit poker if that is of interest to you. The friday and saturday that had two $20-$40 games going as well as some smaller ones

Adam, I go over to Shreveport often and refuse to play the El Dorado, I'm a Shoe man. The cleaner-quieter environment and the automatic shufflers make the difference. Also the $1 an hour makes for some good eatin! I've reviewed both rooms on my blog site, check it out: www.tworags.com/home/Landlord79

I live in Shreveport and have played at the Horseshoe a few times (my girl loves the blackjack there) but I'm not really a fan of the automatic shufflers or how tiny the room is. They did have a nice promotion going where they had pay-outs on big hands ($50 for aces full of tens or better, which I hit, $200 for quads, etc.)

I prefer the El Dorado. Probably just because I win fairly consistently there and know one the floors through a home game. The last few times I've gone it took 30 mins to and hour to get on a table due to the fact that they had MTTs taking up the majority of the tables. Could just be bad timing on my part though. Take some ibuprofen before hand though because the above poster was right, the slots will drive you nuts.

I thought Sam's Town had a room but I just checked their website and saw nothing.

As for room rates, I don't know since I would have to get pretty drunk or balla (neither of which is likely) to stay in a hotel in the same city I live.

Hope the info helps.

It just seems like I get cold decked more. I know I haven't played enough hands to substantiate that at all, it probably just ties back in to being more comfortable at the El Dorado.

yeah im sure someone is living in the shufflemaster stacking the deck.

I am all about being comfortable in a place, but once the 'Shoe opened their poker room I have been to the Eldorado only one time and I will probably never go back.
