In the trips that I've taken to Atlantic City so far, I've never played poker anywhere but the Borgata.
But some friends of mine have a choice of a free room for 2 nights in the upcoming week at either the Showboat or Bally's. They're looking to play some poker while they're there, but they really don't want to leave the casino they're staying at. They'll be playing mostly 2/4 HE, and maybe a small (low-buy in) tournament if it's convenient for them. Any thoughts? |

Showboat, not even close, I think. Leaving their hotel for virtually any other property's poker room is the best plan, though.

Showboat, it's a really comfortable room for the casual player and they have two or three tournaments a day as well.

Showboat is also good because you can walk between buildings and check out the Taj Mahal poker room right next door.

Does Bally's still allow smoking?

I'll put in another vote for Showboat. Its a really nice room, games are good, comfortable, you should have a good time there. No idea what the guest rooms are like, I've never stayed there.

Go to the Showboat to gamble.
When you guys get hungry go to the cafe above the Taj poker room. Quality food at a good price. Get the NY steak sandwich with fried onions. |

Thanks guys, I had a feeling that Showboat would be the better choice. I didn't realize that the Taj was right next door so that could be an option too.
