Default Am I way off here?

Villain (lupy) is fairly tight and I have created a loose image for the last couple of rounds.

Game #5070818614: Hold'em NL ($0.50/$1) - 2007/07/16 - 14:55:19 (CET)
Table "Alexandrinus" Seat 5 is the button.
Seat 1: 081272 ($99.85 in chips)
Seat 2: zalk ($100.05 in chips)
Seat 3: Mooray ($105.65 in chips)
Seat 4: binome ($51.45 in chips)
Seat 5: hystaden ($64.70 in chips)
Seat 6: lupy ($134.60 in chips)
lupy: posts small blind $0.50
081272: posts big blind $1
----- HOLE CARDS -----
dealt to zalk [Jc Jd]
zalk: raises to $3
Mooray: folds
binome: folds
hystaden: folds
hystaden sits out
lupy: raises to $9
081272: folds
zalk: calls $6
----- FLOP ----- [5d 2d 4d]
lupy: bets $17
zalk: raises to $34
lupy: raises to $125.60 and is all-in
zalk: folds
zalk sits out
Returned uncalled bets $91.60 to lupy
zalk sits back
lupy: doesn't show hand
lupy collected $84 from Main pot

Lupy told em he had 99.
I felt that I could at best beat three hands here, 88, 99 and 1010.

Should I have played this hand in another way to begin with?

I would c/call and not c/raise the flop. Raising will get put in by better hands and fold out worse ones. Not a situation we want.

I would just lead that flop and sometimes c/c.

C/r to fold to a push is spew.

I'd just call the flop lead and go from there, probably folding to a strong turn bet. As a side note, if you're going to raise, you should make it a real raise.

Raise to 4 on the flop and call a re-raise. Just call the flop and probably fold turn.
