FTP 6-handed, no reads on villain.
Hero dealt A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] MP and Button limps, I complete in the SB, BB checks. Villains are usual passive calling stations preflop at this level. Flop is A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Hero thinks for a bit then checks, intending to C-R. I was confused w/ this decision after the fact. Is it standard to lead here or C-R? Which is best? Everyone insta-checks around, I dunno if my thinking for a bit had any influence on this. Turn K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] I bet .80 into .95. MP insta calls. SB and button folds. River Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] I bet $2 into $2.5. Villain raises to $6. Hero? I beat a decent amount here, but w/ no reads on river I'm not sure if he'd bluff raise a flush draw (unlikely) or raise a worse two pair here. I thought this was unlikely and thought he had JT here w/ a double gutter on the turn. Am I ahead of a decent enough range here to make the call? |

Call. He could have JT of course, but He probably has a lower two pair (KQ?). He could very likely raise this since you have under-repped your hand and he might think it unlikely that you have an A.

This is 25NL though, how often are villains even thinking on the second level?

This is 25NL though, how often are villains even thinking on the second level? [/ QUOTE ] Even more reason to call. Villain thinks, ZOMG I HAVE TWO PAIRZ, RAIZ IT UP w/out giving a second thought to your cards. You lose to 88, 77, JT You beat 78, K8, K7, Q8, Q7, QK |

What about the flop?
Effective stacks are 100BB btw |

Lead out on the flop. With 3 other villains in there, I'd rather start building the pot while protecting my hand.

Lead full pot on the flop, people raise all the time with tpnk, draws etc. You need to start building a pot. If you cr people tend to go into call down mode. And it might get checked thru.

I would bet two thirds to Potsize at flop. NL25 FDs will pay a lot to stay in. Str8 draws, low aces, even second pair are hands that are also possible and will maybe pay your flopbet.
River is imo a instacall (see procrasts answer).. |

Lead the flop, because of FD/SD, bet turn. As played I'd call river. He could have slowplayed a set/bigger 2 pair or hit a str8. There are a lot of hands that you beat here though, and your getting 2.5-1 here on river call.
