What onlinegame equal to 1-2live
Hey whats up guys im new here.Well ive been reading these forums for 2 weeks now. Ive been playing poker for a year now and just decided recently to start playing online. I havent had much succes so far. Ive read all the books and all that stuff. Anyways I have had some trouble in the onlinecash games. At the casino I would play 1-2 NL. I was wondering what game online would be equal to that? I have always heard the players are better online than at the casino and it seems that way to me so far.

Re: What onlinegame equal to 1-2live
1-2 online is MUCH tougher than 1-2 live. I'd say it depends on when you're playing live - it can range from say $25 NL online (if not even lower if you really luck out on your table) on a drunken Saturday night to maybe $50 NL on a Wednesday morning.

Re: What onlinegame equal to 1-2live
1 2 live can defiantely be similar to 1 2 online but you have to change gears live
and play a simpler more tag style where as online you may have too play a bit more lag but with good game table selection either or can be a lot easier to beat with the correct style |

Re: What onlinegame equal to 1-2live
I know a lot of people will say live is easy .... but really don't listen to them. In the end of the day, it comes to game selection and online has the big fish just like live does.
Somehow people assume that bad players start at .01/.02 and move up as they get better. No this is wrong..... a LOT of players are going to play at the level they did in the casino..... which means your going to find lots of bad players at 1/2. Infact, your going to find horrible players at 5/10 ....... it just comes down to game selection. People who do the "OMG ... online is so tough... all the fish are gone" are simply using an excuse for their bad play and bankroll management skills. Play at the level your bankroll can afford!!!!!! |

Re: What onlinegame equal to 1-2live
I would say anywhere between .01/.02 and .10/.25 online is equivalent. Starting at 1/2 w/out any prior experience lower is a bad idea.

Re: What onlinegame equal to 1-2live
1/2 live isnt tht bad. Actaully depending on the day and time it can be a very tuff game.
Live is a different game then online to me. You see less hands so more people play and limp hoping to catch 2 pair or whatever. There are some really good 1/2 players who play 1/2 cuz of there financial situation. I dont play 1/2 online so i coudlnt say. |

Re: What onlinegame equal to 1-2live
If anyone's actually playing a live $1/$2 NL game that's any tougher than an average $.10/$.25 NL online game, then you really, really need to use better game selection. (And frankly, I'm not even convinced such a thing exists).
Online players are much, much better than live players at the same stakes. There are a number of reasons why: 1 - Live, the lowest stakes are $1/$2 NL. Online, the lowest stakes are $.01/$.02 NL. So online the worst players are playing $.01/$.02 NL. Live they're playing $1/$2 NL. Online, $.01/$.02 NL is SIX levels below $1/$2 NL. 2 - Getting into a live game is far more casual than an online game. Live games often have inexperienced players stumble into the game on their way from the blackjack tables to the slots. Online you need to download and install the software, register an account and figure out a way to deposit. Online takes a far greater level of dedication JUST TO GET STARTED. 3 - When a player wants to make more money live, he moves up in stakes. Online, he multi-tables. In this way online players are able to put much more money in play while limiting their exposure in any one hand and avoid playing with better players. Online $.5/$1 NL players can make a nice living out of multi-tabling. There aren't very many live $1/$2 NL pros. 4 - No HUDs or Pokertracker live. 5 - Online players see many more hands per hour, particularly if they multi-table. More hands per hour equals more experience equals better play. 6 - Free alcohol in casinos. |
