TPGK with AQ on a dry board under pressure. How did I play this hand?
Party Poker
No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $1/$2 6 players Converter Stacks SB $260 Tooty $400 Pre-flop: (6 players) Tooty is UTG+1 with Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] UTG folds, Tooty raises to $8, 2 folds, SB calls, BB calls. River: 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($208, 2 players) SB bets $130, Tooty folds. The villain is playing a 30/13/1 game. I stacked his a$$ a while before this hand where he opened with KQo, called my 3bet (KK from the blinds) pf. Flop came J high all hearts, he has the Q of hearts, I had the K of hearts. I made a 2/3 psb, and he just called with his Q high fd. Turn was a K, which gave him tpgk with a Q high fd while it gave me top set. I put him all in which was basically a 1/2 psb and he called. So given that he's passive with draws and tpgk's, I think I made a good fold on the river. What I'm wondering about is if the turn call is good. He could have had A6 which just got counterfeited, so I decided to call a turn and fold to a river bet. He left himself with like $20 after his river bet. I put him on AT. What do you think? |

Re: TPGK with AQ on a dry board under pressure. How did I play this ha
Calling in the hope that he will slow down on the river is not unreasonable. But you need to believe that he could be doing this with just top pair on the flop, otherwise everything else beats you (except a6, which a really timid bettor is not going to push very hard once it gets counterfeited). Ultimately, if you think he only makes the raise on the flop with 2pair or better, you should ditch it, maybe even on the flop depending on the level of certainty.

[/ QUOTE ] I've seen that he's passive with draws and that he calls 3bets with KQ. But I haven't seen how he plays his top pair on the flop. His aggression factor is actually 1.73, not just 1. Given all this information and what I described up top, would you even call the flop cr? If you've read my description of the guy, you pretty much know everything I know about him. |

either you call turn and river, or you fold the turn. The river is a blank and given the fact he plays his draws passively.
But I don't think that we are ahead here. Too oft villain shows here sth like 66. |

[ QUOTE ] I like a reraise preflop here. as played I instacall the river. [/ QUOTE ] You mean reraise his flop cr? Why would you instacall river? [/ QUOTE ] I meant preflop. From what I have seen in 1/2 NL it is extremely rare that someone will come over the top again with anything that doesn't have you destroyed, and it makes the flop easier to play. Reraising preflop with nothing but AA KK AK makes it pretty easy for them to lay down hands they should be paying you off on. Hands that seem likely on the flop are AT 66 AK AJ A6 KQs KJs QJs 89s 87s. With minimal aggression from the hero the river looks like more of a bluff than a value bet to me. |

The river is an instacall. The only hand you're afraid of here is 66. If he did flop 2 pair with A6 we're ahead. He could have TJ or QT; but if he's c/r'ing with those hands we should be 3betting the flop. Add in missed flush draws and I don't see how you fold this.
