Default 88 on the River. Bleh.

My very first hand at this table, and no reads on anyone. Since the turn blanked and it was checked around on the flop, I figured there was a decent chance I held the best hand so I should try to chase out some overs.

I wasn't sure how to approach the river with this 3rd overcard. I was thinking that Villain probably called the turn with at least a Ten.

Is this a bet/fold, check/call, or check/fold? How often am I ahead here?

*grunch*

I would ch/f turn. To many players, FD at flop, to small pot, 2 big overcards at flop.
Like Ed's say be tight when pot is small.

As played i would fold.

You almost never have the best hand on this board in a five-way pot.
