If he were a different profile of star, it would be different, but because he is boyish, and is in really blockbuster pg-13 and under films, it matters.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think that if Tobey Maguire won the WSOP, he'd instantly move into that other profile of start that you are talking about. It might even be good for his long term career, when his age starts to show.

He has an agreement with ESPN that he has to make it deep, meaning day 4 I guess, no one is sure, to be featured in coverage, and does everything possible to not be photographed while playing. If he were a different profile of star, it would be different, but because he is boyish, and is in really blockbuster pg-13 and under films, it matters. There are whole parts of the country where they think playing poker is fundementally wrong. I work in politics, and do everything possible to keep poker and work separate. There are defintely races I wouldn't be able to work in if someone did a story on me that I was a serious poker player.

Do you have a source on this?

If it does get to that point, a race to not finish first would be awesome to watch tho.

Wasn't Morrison eliminated in 111th place?

[/ QUOTE ]

Nope, he's alive and well.

Pokernews wrote about the ESPN agreement, and his odd photograph avoidance behavior, (going back to last year), I think it was yesterday.

If the day concludes at 36 players, and they chop, they'd get $1,051,834.41 each. Unless a couple of players have massive chip stacks, how can they not chop at that point?

[/ QUOTE ]

Here's a critical reason why they won't chop.

Harrah's will require that the tournament be played out to the end. Whoever actually wins the tournament and receives the bracelet will also get a W2-G tax form for $8,500,000. That person will be liable for nearly $3,000,000 in taxes to the U.S. federal government.

[/ QUOTE ]

That's so sick. At least they'll get some of that back in endorsements. Even more reason to hope Julian Gardner wins it, no gambling taxes in England!!

[/ QUOTE ]

Even if you win it in the US?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, even if you win it in the US due to a UK/US tax treaty. Its why its a lot easier to be a poker pro if you live in the UK, no taxes whatsoever (for everyone apart from Americans who still get taxed by the IRS even if they move here...)
