Jumbo grips
What is your opinion on jumbo grips? I have big hands and am thinking of getting them on my clubs. I searched the internet and couldn't find much on this topic. Do any pros use jumbo grips?

Re: Jumbo grips
I wouldn't worry about what the pros use or not. Do you have a problem with your current ability to grip? Go to a golf shop and see if they have any clubs with jumbo grips you could hit.
Oh, and I'm assuming there are such things as jumbo grips... |

Re: Jumbo grips
I'm pretty sure they're only used by old guys with arthritis

Re: Jumbo grips
Grips come in many sizes, and your hand size determines which grip will perform the best. Check out pinggolf.com, if I remember correctly, they have a hand measurement guide that may get you on the right track.

Re: Jumbo grips
there are diff grip sizes, and you can also control grip size by adding build up tape underneath the grip. I don't know how to fit someone to a grip, but any club rep will be able to measure your hand to find out what size grip you need. I use a grip w/ 3 layers of build up just because I like the feel, I don't need bigger grips.

Re: Jumbo grips
There are medical reasons why players put bigger grips on their clubs. But for the most part it's just what feels best to you. You could get grips bigger in diameter, you could get standard grips and add an extra layer or two of tape. Each layer of tape adds 1/32nd of an inch to the diameter.
However be aware of the fact that smaller grips promote more hand action while larger grips limit hand action. For most golfers this means bigger grips will increase their slice. BO |
